There's something almost life affirming about watching the Fijians run over and run through good teams in the 7s. They make it look ridiculously easy.

Back in 2019 I was in Munich's Olympic Stadium watching Ireland's 7s team in a second tier tournament that wasn't part of the official tour, and they didn't progress far in that tournament either.

3 years later and their progress is phenomenal. Congratulations on bronze boys.

17 years ago in Hong Kong, Ben Gollings lauches a desperate tackle that fails to stop Waisale Serevi from scoring the matching winning try of the semi finals, and Fiji advanced and eventually won the 7s World Cup.
2022, Gollings, now coaching Fiji, guides the Fijians to another 7s World Cup. Its fate.

So proud of the Irish boys. 7s rugby at present is dominated by Southern Hemisphere teams, and only Ireland and France are flying the flag for NH. Considering Ireland didn’t compete at 7s just a few years ago, it’s phenomenal.

Well deserved win by Fiji! Missed crucial tackles by NZ cost them dearly.
It's a pity Ireland just missed getting into the final against Fiji, because it would have been far more interesting to have had Ireland play in the final against Fiji rather than New Zealand.
