Whether we are referring to the insurance industry, loans/lending, Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) or a wide range of other sectors, there is a clear role for underwriting in the let's call it financial ecosystem.

As explained in this video, underwriting essentially revolves around well-funded entities putting their capital on the line in exchange for being rewarded for the risk they take on.

From definition or if you will meaning to examples, I've explained in an easy to follow manner what underwriting is all about and why you should care.

While some people consider "underwriting" just another obscure financial mumbo-jumbo term and shrug it off, others understand that it represents yet another piece of the puzzle that ultimately help them meaningfully understand the financial industry.

Maybe you've never heard about underwriting or perhaps you've come across the term but never really cared enough to dig deeper. No matter what situation you find yourself in, this one minute explanation will hopefully be of assistance :)

I'm an MBA student and taking Investments. I needed a simplified explanation for an underwriter and I found it. I like the examples too! Thanks for the video. It's very helpful, short, sweet and to the point.

So basically when a fresh new company goes ipo, they receive the money that they are trying to raise right away from bank investor also call (underwriters).. N then the underwriters are taking those shares they just bought from that company to try to make their own profit, by selling them to the ipo public?... Please answer.. this was something I've been trying to research on. Thank you ..if so, u got a new sub..☝️👌

I have a question. When a company issues new securities on the primary market are they selling directly to the public? Or are they selling it to investment dealers who then in turn sell those newly aquired securities on the primary market to individuals at a markup? Please answer

Sorry for being rude, but what is wrong with the audio? It's a great video but this sound-swallowed and sped-up moments annoy so much.
