I was absolutely shocked at how he got the first stick. The way he uses his feet to hold the slack in the string as he reaches down with his beak to pull more up is so insanely human. He looks like someone wrapping up their garden hose.

I honestly think you could train these to make small repairs or other things at this level of intelligence.

If they interviewed the crow, He'll say, "Yeah I heard him say it to you earlier. So I already knew what I had to do. But it didn't look like he pushed it back that far. So I thought I'd try to skip a step. He got me there. But once I realized I was wrong, I knew the clock was ticking, and I wanted to look good on camera. So I hurried up and got the bigger stick. It's all in a day's work. Nothing special really. You wouldn't happen to have anymore of those treats would you?"

Are these random crows or cherry picked ivy league ones?

The crow obviously listened to the guy talking before he began🤣

I wonder if a crow could figure out a complex treat based escape room sort of thing where the objectives each involve some sort of snack for the crow

I feel the puzzle was too easy for the crow honestly

If you haven't seen the documentary on crows learning faces and the experiments done with masks, you have to see it. Scary how long their memory is.

This crow would make a comparatively brilliant president.

Give it a calculus problem on a paper and remember to leave a pen as well.
This is too easy for them. 😂😂

Hey, Scientists! How about a less slippery surface for the nice crow?

I have a pair of European magpies building a nest in a sequoia in my yard right now. I have supplied a bird bath and a buffet of nuts and seeds (mostly so they don't go predatory on the other little birds living on the property), and am hoping we will become great friends.

Crows can solve 5 levels of problem solving.

No high school graduate in Baltimore or Philadelphia can do this

I AM NOT KIDDING

I was at school with kids who couldn't have done that.

A question.

From this video and others like it the Crow seems to already be trained in each individual step of the puzzle.

What they said rhey are twsting and what was actually tested doesnt seem to be the same thing.

Was this an edited together video.

I say this because there seem to be no fumbles or incorrect attempts other than the initial short stick to food. Which would be an expected thing for any animal in this test.
----

What was tested is wether or not they could apply previous knowledge to the situation. ie short stick is used to get long stick.

As they described it they were testing if a Crow is placed in an unfamiliar environment could they solve the problem.

----

Either way that entire family of birds is incredibly intelligent.
