Vintage Upcycled Snowball Flying Geese Quilted Coat

Long Quilt Coat- Snowball and Flying Geese

This coat was created from one of a kind vintage “snowball and flying geese” style quilt. The snowball style covers the entire back and part of the front of the coat. The flying geese edge the front openings.

Sewing Process:
The top layer of the original quilt was separated from the it’s batting and lining. A new high quality cotton “batting” was used to layer between the original quilt top and a new calico print fabric for the coat lining. All layers were bound using a “long-arm” quilting machine.
All seams were “finished” off with binding fabric to match the final edging. Three pockets were added including two hidden in-seam pockets and an inside cell phone pocket measuring 5”x7”.
Roomy fit for sizes 8 to 14 women sizes. Cuff sleeves allow for more flexibility in sizing. Total sleeve length is 25 inches prior to rolling cuff.
Collar to hem: 42 inches
Distance between shoulder seams: 19.5 inches

About our Coats:
None of the vintage or antique quilts are perfect and may have loose stitching from the original thread used to piece the quilt top. There may be some stains despite my cleaning/soaking the quilts prior to sewing.

Cleaning:
These coat/jackets are meant to be WORN. If your jacket does need cleaning, don’t be afraid to wash on the gentle cycle with cold water and laid flat to dry. I like to use Dawn soap for spot cleaning stains and “Retro Wash” to clean my jackets.
