Thank you for doing the test with the USB connection. I don't have XLR stuff, and I was so confused as to why I was so quiet when the microphone was claiming to be near clipping. When I saw your USB setting for the microphone, I set mine to the same and it sounds so much better now.

I dunno, mid to high freq in your voice is exaggerated. To me you sound much more natural without all the compressing. Thanks for the info!

the fact that its a usb and xlr hybrid was what made me purchase it. I don't yet have the money to invest in an audio interface, but also not money for buying another microphone once i do get an audio interface. With this, i can just use the usb output until i get an audio interface. so nice!

Just got this mic as a gift. Was using a turtle beach usb mic and when I listened to my vod on YT from this past weekend, there was a huge difference between that stream and my previous streams. I sound 1000% better.

FYI, you can put a Shure SM7B foam screen on a Shure MV7 microphone, and it makes the MV7 much better. If the MV7 had USBC instead of microUSB connection, I'd love it. Instead, my main mic is the SM7B with the Elgato Wave XLR. It gives the SM7B modern perks.

Am I the only one preferring pre-processed sound? It was much less ice picky and had more low end

I’ve used this mic now for about 2 years to record vocals snare drums high hats toms ride and crash cymbals guitar amps and acoustic guitar . I use it xlr thru my interface . My only complaint about the mic is in usb mode the head phone audio out isn’t loud enough . Other than that it’s 10 out of 10

This is a very different type of review than anything out there. And I love it, surprised you don't have that many subs!

I've been using a Blue Snowball Ice since I started working from home last spring. Having a workspace with a 3rd grader just outside the usually open door has made it abundantly clear that I need a better mic. This looks like a winner for cutting out background noise and having a much better audio quality than the Snowball or my webcam can provide. Great review, thanks for putting it together and showing the USB/XLR difference.

which is great for people who don't have a DAW or a interface. Using the XLR connection will sound better than the USB going into a DAW like Cubase, which is what I use. I have a Phonic Summit 16 channel mixer which is what I plug my mic into which is my interface for Cubase. I add processing like noise gate (which will cut out typing noise or desk noise). I also use the Slate Digital everything bundle along with Izotope to make the mic sound amazing. Then instead of running the 2 XLR cables to my studio monitors I route those into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which is my stream Labs interface. I've been using a Shure beta 87a for my streaming mic but this mic is not made for spoken dialogue. So I ordered the Shure MV7 and should be on my door step today. Shure really stepped their game up on this one making it possible for someone who has no audio interface at all to go USB in and sound great. I commend Shure for making this product. Can't wait to hook it up.

Hey, lovely video, great talk-through. But you're obviously a Rode fan - you called the Shure MV7 a Rode MV7 at 10:05. :)

I have had this mic for about 30 days, I have the usb and the xlr with a GOXLR mini. I love this thing. I also have a blue yeti that is now safely in my drawer. Shure has done an amazing job on this mic. Worth every dollar.

I like the NO HISS. When you stop talking, it sounds like the video is over. I like that sound. Very clean. Crisp.

I listened to this video and ordered the MV7 on eBay just now. LOL! A little over $200 and ordered a new boom versus the one I have. Thanks for this video. Induced me to pull the trigger on the deal. It'll be here around September 2, 2023. Feel free to listen to my current livestreams that I've done for the past year and then after I run the MV7, I'll hear the difference.

you should do a whispering test on the USB without the OBS filters.... for us ASMR peeps who want something other than the yeti... can't use those OBS filters, coz they filter out part of the whispering... would love to hear you doing super quiet whispers, with and withoutt the windscreen!!

I scanned the comments but didn’t see anyone mention that this mic with the processing enabled sounds very ESSie.

Thank you for the review. How good is the Micro USB connection. I have one device where it loosened up over time and now is not holding solidly into the slot. One review that I saw indicated the acoustic foam of the MV7 is very thin at the front of the mic and causes a problem with plosives. I bought a simple and very effective acoustic screen that fits in the head of my ball mic and i reommend it's use for this mic. it's called the "Popper Blocker" and is only around $5.00.

thanks for the review, its by far the best assessment I have seen! have you tried MV7+ and whether added enhanced digital processing is worth the extra price? thanks

It has an internal shock mount. You dont need to buy and external one. The sound of you knocking, was just the sound of knocking. I wasnt vibration shock.
