Ron Wood's Rhythm Guitar Riffs in Faces and Rolling Stones | Reverb Learn to Play

Rolling Stones/Faces guitarist Ron Wood's playing (both with iconic bands and solo) stretches beyond the parameters of a typical player. With his talent for slide guitar, lap steel, acoustic, and lead playing, it would be easy to make a full series of Ron Wood videos, but today Jeff Massey is taking the time to focus on Wood's rhythmic leanings.

Woods had that inherent gift of falling into the groove when and wherever and with anyone. The joy.

Good to see Ronnie getting some love. Keith usually gets all the attention but Ronnie is just as good if not better

Favorite Ron Wood guitar riff "Stay with me" by the Faces. One of the best guitar intro's.

Wood's style, with the dissonant touches and percussive feel really gave the Faces ragged edge that suited them perfectly. That some of my favorite music. Nice lesson, thanks.

I once had the good fortune to meet Ronnie in a pub in London. We chatted about the Stones for a while and he signed an autograph. A great bloke as well as a great guitar player.

Ron is a great musician.
Wasted in The Stones.
And I'm a Stones fan!
His work with Rod stood out much much more.

Love the focus on Ron Woods, he has a great style, especially through the stuff he did with Faces. A Wink is as good as a Nod to a blind horse is a great Album.

Though I love much of his work with The Stones I think the best legacy of Ron Wood as guitar player is his essential period with The Faces. That is unsurpassable... and not only as a guitarist but as a writer too.

Brilliant thanks - huge influence with the Faces. Power with great touch, with the boogie fills and huge slide chords. Saw Faces live in 1974 when Rod Stewart was in his prime - emerging superstar - but Ron Wood stole the show. Huge sound. Set the tone. Got the party started.

I discovered Ron Wood's guitar work when I was starting out and he was with the Faces. Very clever, minimalist playing. A very tasteful player.

Not sure I've seen another Ron Wood/Faces lesson. That was so cool. He gained more fame with the stones but the sounds you made on this lesson, you haven't heard them from him as a Stone. I'm going to spend a lot of time on this lesson. I even think Ron Wood would love it since it's so appreciative of what he did for Faces

Never enough videos on Ronnie’s guitar style. Lessons on Faces and early Rod Stewart songs are welcome.

I LOVE Ron's intro to "Losing You" .... For years I have watched the old "Faces" live performance video here on U Tube and tried in vain to get it down the way he does it and he makes it look so easy.

FINALLY! A proper video on Ronnie's Style and tone! Ever since getting in to the Faces I've been at a loss to find a proper video about his style during that time. I feel he really dropped off after joining the stones and his personal style was buried being Keith's sidekick. PLEASE DO MORE ON RONNIE/FACES!

For sure! More Ron Wood please! His style is so cool and compliments Keith’s sound and style so much. Great video.

Everything you said, Jeff. Ronnie is one of those select guitarists that has an immediately identifiable tone and feel. A consummate player. So yes, keep delving and sharing.

I love this. There's never enough talk about rhythm. You have great feel and tone.
