"By Grabthar's hammer... what a savings." That is still to this day one of my favorite movie line deliveries. The amount of vitriol and self loathing Rickman was able to squeeze into that line is absolutely amazing.

Love the respect they gave to Alan by not giving him a joke title. 🤗

This movie is simply amazing in every way, giving a tongue in cheek poke at fandom and at the same time be a homage to that same fandom. The actors all do an amazing job, perfectly balancing slightly over the top performances with glorious professionalism, not to mention that each of these characters have more substance, story arc and soul than what all the characters in modern Star Trek and Star Wars have put together.

And then there's Alan Rickman.... It still breaks my heart that he's not with us anymore, such a great actor. His passing was a true loss, he truely was one of a kind.

One of things that Galaxy Quest doesn't get enough credit for is being very accessible to people who haven't watched Star Trek. I have never seen an episode yet I understood pretty much every joke. Even if Star Trek itself didn't exist, the plot to the movie still works because of the excellent world-building.

That has to the most positive honest trailer Screen junkies has ever published.

And I agree completely.

The visual effects on this movie held up really well. Considering its 20 years old and a comedy.

"Is there air? You don't know!"

One of the few films to ever actually address this rather important factor when landing on a new planet. So many good moments in this, and one of my favorite Rickman performances. <3

I love how this movie combined nerd culture along with satirizing Hollywood. My favorite moment is when Sigourney's character blows up because someone says that it's annoying that she keeps repeating the computer. "Look, I have ONE job on this lousy ship! It's stupid, but I'm going to do it! Okay?!"

"My character doesn't even have a name, I'm just 'guy'!"

Painfully underrated flick.

Alan Rickman was one of my all time favourite actors, my hubby and I used to say he'd be the ideal person to go out to dinner with. He died 6 months after my husband, of exactly the same thing. Hope they finally did get that dinner.
Man, I love this movie!!

"...just a hardcore thank you to Alan Rickman"

This is such an amazing movie. It strikes the perfect balance of not taking itself seriously while simultaneously giving an emotional story with sincere performances. And what a perfect cast.

Honestly, when Alan Rickman sadly passed, everyone was posting about what Snape meant to them or Hans Gruber being awesome but it was Dr. Lazarus, for me... Truly underappreciated film

"The greatest Iago of a generation, and look what I am reduced to"
- Alan Rickman (Galaxy Quest)

"Thirteen years with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and look what I am reduced to."
- Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation)
Yup, he really said that while on all fours, trying to talk to (in his words) "the oil slick that ate Denise Crosby".

"Let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy!"

Seriously funny movie.

I re-watched this movie after Rickman died. I wanted to see him in a movie where he wasn't a bad guy, or who died in the end. It's funny hearing in interviews how much he loved this role, even though he played a character he HATED his role.

I don't think I've ever met a Trek fan who didn't love this movie.

When my late husband or I would get into a situation where one of us was randomly pushing buttons, trying to figure out how something worked, the other one, after fruitlessly urging caution and consultation with the directions, would inevitably shout, "Is there air!? Do we know?"

We'd laugh, then the other person would usually go back to pushing buttons randomly to see what happens.

In a parallel, better, universe this film would have gotten 8 Oscars, or more. It speaks on so many levels.

Fun fact: the movie won a Hugo award for “Best Dramatic Presentation”.

Yup, the SF fans really did get it. ;)
