I rarely used "how to draw" books, but this was my absolute favorite through 4th grade.

This book is how I learned to draw!!! I recieved it as a gift before quarantine, and I've dedicated over 2 years learning from this book and then moving beyond!!!

tip: copy a pose, draw it again a few times, then redraw it with a character you draw often or want to draw more. it helps both check their design and practice anatomy!

I love to study manga as art references. Usually frames are high quality and more detail than the animated scenes. Plus lots of crazy poses and expressions. Also really cool how they make drawings dynamic only using greyscale colors and not even blended shadows usually. Only textured, sharp, or crosshatching shadows mostly.

My favorite book for dynamic poses will always be "Force: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators" by Michael Mattesi. I've ended up with multiple copies of the book because I'd want to look through when I came home from college, realize I left it in my dorm, and buy another copy. I think I even have a PDF copy on my laptop somewhere so I don't have to hunt for the physical copy anymore. TLDR, I really like that book.

I remember getting this as one of my presents from my school and I would be there for hours sketching until I was able to accurately draw the proportions right of my favorite poses

Yes, this is kinda how I got into drawing. I would sketch my favorite superheroes and anime characters, first in simple, straight form, then I learned how to draw dynamic poses by copying images and eventually being able to do it by memory and trial & error.
