IKEA UTRUSTA Door Hinges - How to fit soft close door dampers

The UTRUSTA door hinge set includes soft close dampers which are great idea and make slamming doors a thing of the past, they are pretty easy to fit but sometimes require a small tweak - this video is our experience with them and hopefully it helps you too. The dampers are attached by placing them near the square hole and simply pushing forward, they can be removed quite easily with a quick tug as well.

Hi! Your video saved me! Spring was the problem. What I needed to do was make the spring contact first then fit in the fixed two prongs. Whew!

Thank you so much. I had a unit of SOFT close blum that fell off and I couldnt put it back in no mather what I tried without damage it. One I tried with the flat screwdriver it glitched in perfuctly for the first time!

I have to watch this video every 6 months when one of kids rips them off. Key is to get that spring thing closer to the metal, so there’s less spring action forcing it off. Pair of grips to close it up helps too

if you squeeze the damper back into the housing the unit will sit flush and you'll get a better angle on the spring (which doesn't want to go into the hole) - job done.

One per door worked well for me too, thankfully. After a few goes trying to get the damper on, I'd start the fight with a new damper. . I didn't realize that was the problem until I watched this video.

TIP - If the metal spring piece just won't stay forward, take a small screwdriver and put it forwards AS you are fitting it - literally push it into the hole and you push the unit into place.

I understand how difficult it is trying to show dummies a video when you can only use one hand and I didn't have to see you actually connect it to believe you, I just pushed the little spring like thing like you aid and it snapped on no problem.
