Yes you could. There is an outdoor Mod Podge that is terrific for things like this.

I've never had a problem with using my ink jet printer but if you do, you can always lightly spray your image with some clear coat and then adhere it to your project. This way it truly won't run when it's wet. On this project and my latest boho plate project I used my home printer and it was just perfect.

The leaf prints go on the underside of the plate (this way you can eat off of the top). If you coat the back with the Minwax Polycrylic you can wash them. I would sponge was them instead of letting them soak just in case you miss a spot. But a quick rinse will be fine. As long as they are properly coated on the back. Don't put them in the dishwasher. Hope that helps.
