My wife's Charity Shop DVD rescue

In this video, I’ll be talking about a DVD collections that was about to be thrown away, that my wife rescued.

A donation to the Charity secured them and she brought them home. This is what was in that collection.

A lovely story & well done to the charity shop. I was in my local Sue Ryder shop last year & one of the volunteers was carving a cross through DVD's & CD's that were being thrown out. This was on the manager's orders to stop people taking them from the bin. Such wanton destruction by some people.

The fact they sat in your cupboard for ages was a wonderful part of the story. I would have been too tempted to look through them right away. Enjoyed the video.

Just yesterday garnered about 60 DVDs from the local charity shop for £19, of films I know about and never watched, Chicago, La La Land, Kings Speech, lots of 80's/90's films, to add to my current batch of 400 DVDs. I'm now on my way to creating that 'netflix' on my computer server. The annoying thing is I have to keep these to satisfy copyright purposes, in case I ever did 'get stopped' by the copyright police. I would sooner hand the DVD's back to the charity shop to resell once I have them on my system. I'll soon my stopping my £18 a month Netflix subscription, and move on to 'ripping' my blu rays....

Bittersweet video....I can't help but think that these were someone's treasures. It hurts to think that when someone passes away and their most loved possessions typically go in the trash unless they have easy value. My father passed away unexpectedly a few years ago and he had four of these folders, I refused to let them go to the local donation area because I knew what would happen to them. I saved them and I'm really glad I did, like I said it was something he treasured.

That doesn't mean of course that the person you got these from passed away but that's just where my mind goes.

Either way you rescued a great collection from the trash and maybe even gave dignity to someone's positions from the past. Great video!

What a great treat, finding them there. Especially, when you've forgotten all about them. Glad Pushing Daisies was still so enjoyable for you. Great selection in those cases. A couple of times I've found boxes of DVD's in the street. You know people have had a clear out & leave alright stuff on the pavement. Well, I'm like the 11th Doctor & fez, or a Womble, can't resist going through that box. Haven't been quite as lucky though but I'd never forgive myself if I didn't look.

Whoever donated the dvds had amazing taste! Some absolute classics in there. Chuffed that you’ve managed to enjoy a few even if there are some that aren’t to your taste.

That's a good bit of advice when shopping and finding these deals, which can benefit. This can be especially true for the market of DVD's, which can be sold at a very low price and have large selections.

Great buy. The wallets alone are useful even if you had no interest in keeping the DVDs inside. I've started to put my DVDs into those wallets as the original cases take up too much space.
