Rauma River, Fly Fishing for Salmon in Extreme Surroundings

Rauma River have had the parasite, Gyrodactylus salaris, for a number of years. Gyrodactylus kills most of the Atlantic salmon in the river. 2021 was the official opening of salmon fishing in the river after successful treatment!

Fishing was tough due to warm and stable weather, but it was a great experience to be back in this famous river. Luckily I also fished some of the smaller rivers in the area that provided me with more success than Rauma.

I've been waiting a long time your film. What a clarity of the water😮. Place look like paradise but it could be few more bigger fish in it. Sure you didn't blank on this trip so wasn't too bad at all😀. I've been fishing twice already this season. 2nd tripwas interesting, we've got 40-60 mph winds upstream and terrible rain and hills stones going sideways😆 (no fish between 4 of us) so I think you got really good weather for fishing and got few fish. Tight lines for new season🤞

Hello friend. Great channel, I have subd. Just a question please, I will be in Norway for 10 days in August, not for fishing, but want to bring a fly rod along. What weight rod would you suggest? Would a 5wt be too small? Ive never caught a salmon, but am happy to focus on "easy to catch fish", like trout. But if a salmon bites then that is fine also :) Thank you, JJ from South Africa
