What a great attitude...has organizational perspective and will help out whereever needed, and be mindful of others. Can't really learn that in school. What a pro.

I just got hired as a CNC operator and I am so excited and this guy is making me hopeful for the future!

this was really helpful. I'm moving to texas in the next week and I've got an entry level no-experience job there working as a CNC operator, and while I am not super happy about the possibility of extreme math being an every-day occurrence, the 35k a year + Overtime is really nice.

I like this guy. He seems like a real proper person. I imagine MacKay is lucky to be involved with this guy.
His ambition is very healthy. I hope he's being paid well, for his ambitions.

I went to school for a manual machinist. I always smelt like burnt oil, chips melted into the bottom of my boots and them flying into my shirts and constant metal slivers in my hands, lol. Going back to school because I know nothing about programming and CNC. Wis me luck. Keep up or get left behind I guess.

I work In a Manufacturing Facility and work on multiple mills and I absolutely love it!

Y'all are better off getting your machinist ticket and actually learning manual milling as well as 3 axis and 5 axis programming etc. To get a $25 + job you need to apply into niche industries, not local shops because they will always pay you less. It's better to get your feet wet with bigger companies for all round exposure of the job.

Very insightful. Thinking of learning this trade to go with my gunsmithing training

I'm currently at a very chilled position here at work, but there's a CNC operator opening here, and I'm really thinking about applying for it. But I'm afraid of stressful jobs, don't know it I should go for it. It's around 55k annually, plus OT. So you're looking at 75k +.

"Tell the machine what to do, and press go" easy money lol

IDK...Job shop type machinists don't really make jack anymore, and you'd think so because of how diverse the work in a job shop can often get... Specialty items, such as aerospace, certain automotive and diesel engine products, and specialized precision parts, such as high speed turbine rotors, seem to be where the money is in the US, as job shops have mostly gone overseas...

I was an operator for a while, job was great, then the recession hit. I was unemployed for months, found out that a lot of shops around had closed, for some reason I never pursued it again.
