Commericial Plumber Apprentice here, I love the new construction and learning about the other trades like Electrical and Carpentry on my lunch. I feel like if you can easily take down 2-8in rusted cast iron pipe and fittings and put new ones in, residential can be a cake walk.

I’m a union commercial plumber and I can confidently say that just because it’s a new building and it’s commercial doesn’t mean you won’t come in contact with poop lol. Be safe

Residential service non-union and running like heck haha, it’s an awesome career field to get into especially when you can go into somebody’s home, see their problem that’s been causing them some dismay and come up with solutions to resolve it, and some of the reactions after fixing it are priceless👍🏻

First week down. Apprentice here. Commercial, non union, new construction. Love it. 45min drive one way to job site but traffic is not bad. Gives me time for myself to decompress before getting home.

The first pro is definitely something that interests me. I worked a desk job, not moving at all, for a long time. It left me wanting to die. Sort of joking but sort of not. Now I've been a freelance creative for a while and while there is passion there...the stability is, so far, not great (a global pandemic doesn't help). So I'm grateful for your videos to at least give me food for thought. If I switch careers it will definitely be something along these lines, and after listening to this video, I think residential would be more the path for me. Thanks, Roger.

Roger, I envy your life because you got to be the plumber I couldn't be because I have Asperger's syndrome and learning difficulties and I couldn't make it into ANY career; not just the plumbing trade. I'm 52 years old and I have been on disability income since I was 24.

You learn something new everyday, Master the Trade and they are paying TOP Dollar for Lead installers and Service Techs due to the lack of skilled labor

Pool guy here trying to learn a new trade. Plumbing comes naturally to me, and in a dying industry that I’m in, I’m looking to step it up and take on more challenges. Thank you for all this information! looking forward to exploring your channel.

Question...I learned service plumbing from my manager who was a licensed plumber when I worked on apartment maintainance. Now my wife and I own and manage rental properties. And I take care of our plumbing calls. What can I do get more training and a license?? Or do I really need one for only doing service repairs??

Could you do a general overview video on working with residential gas systems?

I'm not a trades person but I want to get into it. Commercial seems more appealing because there is less home owner DIY to come fix.

Did commercial work for years. Contemplating residential work now.

Been doing commercial for 18 years and love it but the reality is work stability isn't that great. The company I work for also has a service division no matter what time of the year those boys are always busy. To me its time to move on to service. Job stability and the opportunity to make more money seem to be there.

Residential con is that you can get a call into a shit hole house where they haven't cleaned in years.
