I hated this the first time I tried it

Poi is pounded taro mixed with water, and it's a delicious staple in Hawaii's cuisine. I got this hand pounded fresh poi from Waiahole Poi Factory:

48-140 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744

What's a starch that you like to eat with meals?

I'm so glad I tried poi again! I love fresh poi from Waiahole Poi Factory, or poi with slightly fermented flavor.

I LOVE squid lu’au! 😋

My husband and I used to live in Hawaii for 2 years (military) and that was my go to dish! Not enough people talk about it, thank you!

I prefer purple poi honestly especially with Chicken lau lau. Also my dog who passed away last year was named Hokulani. Best dog I’ve ever had. So glad the name is continuing on

I had poi at a Hawaiian cultural center show and it literally just tasted like wallpaper paste. So I’ve been reluctant to try again even though I like other taro based dishes.

I also hate poi, which was sad to me because potatoe/root paste sounded like it could be really good. I might need to try it again. But I don't even like the smell of cooked taro leaves so maybe it's a flavor thing.

One of my favorites with poi is limu poke.

I learned about the existence of poi in a "The Magic Treehouse" book. I still want to try it but unfortunately I'm in Texas

It looks really good! Is the fermentation good for the gut? I’ve been looking for more gut healthy foods to try that aren’t yogurt or kombucha hahaha

As a rice eater, I can't imagine eating savory dishes with this. Maybe I'd eat it as a dessert, like a thick ginataan.

I’m 27 and only recently tried taro… I live in LA so I know that’s crazy lol I don’t get myself either but it’s changed my life! One of my fav ingredients now. Do you know of any good places to get authentic poi near Alhambra area?

I knew about poi because it’s one of the recipes in the game Stardew Valley 😊
