Grevy's zebra foal born at Saint Louis Zoo

Grevy’s zebra foal Nova made her entry into the world on December 31, 2018 at the Saint Louis Zoo! The New Year’s Eve babe was born to mom Laila and dad Dewy and weighed 99 pounds. At just over a week old on Jan. 8, she was kickin’ up her heels as she made her debut at Red Rocks. The endangered Grevy’s zebra is facing extinction in the wild. The Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Institute Center for Conservation in the Horn of Africa supports conservation of the Grevy’s zebra and other unique species in that region.
