Learn How To Rake Your First Lock In Just Minutes!

Raking is a great tool and when your are starting to learn to pick locks this is a skill you will want to hone. Raking can make opening locks much faster and it is very practical in real world scenarios.

To rake your first lock you need two things a bottom of the keyway tensioner that fits appropriately for the lock and a rake. Two common types of rakes are Bogota (Triple Peak) Rakes and Snake Rakes. The Bogota styled rake is featured in this video.

Just keep practicing and you will be amazed of how well raking works. A few things that can make raking more difficult are radical bitting and the addition of security pins. Most locks you can buy at places like Home Depot can be raked open and security pins are not as common in real world applications as you might think.

Ahhhh I just picked my first lock. That was a bloody thrill. I found an old lockbox in my attic and I lost the key a decade ago. That was fun. Thanks man!

My stepmother had a shed that she needed unlocked, and was going to wait for her son to do it when he visited - But the first minute of this video was enough to teach me how to do it with her lockpick set, great tutorial and explanation!

I've watched the lock picking Lawer, lock noob and others but these people have forgotten what it's like to actually be a noob undoing a level million lock in 2 seconds with hand crafted tools saying this lock is fairly easy to open... This guys video helps the rest of the world understand and learn new skills... Bro I take my hat if to you and just subscribed...
This vid is basic but that's what we need at the start not some computer nerd sounding guy bang on about spools for 15 mins... Your a legend and keep them coming for us...

I have a kinda odd comment... I just wanted to say I'm so happy with your development with this channel. I don't want to say you lacked confidence in some of these older videos... however I will say that in your newer videos you definitely came into your element.

Glad to see that you know just how valuable you are, nd that this "weird hobby" you got teased about has brought together countless people. You're a gem, don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Started picking a couple weeks ago and have not yet been able to open anything by raking but I’ll keep trying

Every raking tutorial ever: “Apply some bottom tension, jerk the rake 2-3 times= instantly open”
Every raking attempt I do: “Nope”
Now what?

I didnt understand what I was doing when I raked a padlock. Sometimes I opened it; sometimes I didn't. Your explanation helped me get consistent results.

I carry 3 tools, a Bogota, a city rake & a single hook. Out of the dozens of times I’ve had to actually make entry I’ve only used the single pick once... and I think it was because the pins were stuck/rusted.

Decent demo, shaking the lock with your right hand is a confounding variable.

Thanks for the video! You briefly touched on key bitting and the difference it makes. Do you happen to have a video covering this in more detail, things like identifying a "7 cut" vs a "1 cut" and what the bitting means/can tell you about the pins?

My son had to close the Hockey rink he works at as the Zamboni driver. He left his keys in the office, and the door closed behind him locked. He couldn't lock up the building. I was already about to go pick him up when he called. So i grabbed my lockpicking tools. Years since i used them.

Thanks for your video. Great refresher. I was able to open the door by the time the video was done 🎉✌️
