This was a decent 12 mile walk in Kent, undertaken on a pleasant, though breezy, Spring day. It was also a walk that was first completed in March 2011, though in a very different guise; the author has amended it to such an extent that it needed to be revisited.
Minutes from the station, the walker is into the National Nature Reserve of Ham Street Woods, and the Wood Anemones and Bluebells within set the theme for the day - wonderful!
Then, it's on through the village, following the Saxon Shore Way to a possible early pub, or churchyard, lunch stop in Warehorne. This walker continued on to the more isolated church yard in Kenardington, though it also has a fine dining table inside!
Thereafter, it's on through the Gusbourne vineyard, past Horne's Place Chapel (where this walker saw the season's first Swallows near the Lake. Quite early for them.) and through Great Heron Wood.
There's then a section of walking along the banks of the Royal Military Canal before reaching the village of Appledore. Refreshment can be had here prior to the almost 1.5 mile walk to the station.
Another good day's walking through a variety of habitats. The larger field crossings could be a trudge after rain as the farmer hasn't reinstated them in any way.

Bird at 7.50 sounded a bit like a Chough but I think you mainly find them in Cornwall X
