Great review, I know of him but dont really find him funny, his stand up that is, his podcasts I've seen with him and any number of other comedians, bill burr, Bobby lee etc, hes pretty charismatic and quite funny. I honestly dont know why I dont like his specials!? That my problem I suppose!
MY favourites over a prolonged period of time would be billy Connolly, bill burr and Dylan Moran though. Cheers

I've honestly been waiting for The Cabin since about March of 2019, I believe? It was mentioned in a press release with minimal details when they announced the release date of his Netflix special Secret Time. I was super interested as he slowly released more details on various podcasts. I watched the series in one sitting and laughed myself into a stomach ache in episode 1 and was a little annoyed at how much of a douchebag he was coming off as in episode 2, as it felt more like a networking opportunity, but as soon as he made the connection to his dad and he ended the final FaceTime, I actually cried along with him. He's talked multiple times about how his dad was always there and, of course, loved him, but never really liked him. I was not expecting such a genuine moment after so much silliness. I was pleased to see that pendulum swing throughout the short series.

I believe on one of his podcasts he made an offhand comment about how the show was meant to be longer, but it had to be edited down as people were "canceled, " which may imply that there was originally an episode with Chris D'Elia, possibly, that needed to be dropped? That's at least the most recent, and closest example that came to mind.

Bert first became most popular for his story "The Machine." National Lampoon's Van Wilder character was based on him. That video he released without Showtime's permission, as well. They said he could release a number of clips to promote his special. He did, but didn't realize the clips were meant to only be a certain duration. That clip is 13+ minutes and blew up instantly. It's a great introduction to his stand-up.

Another fun video to watch is 2 bears 1 cave - top 5 laughs. A lot of people credit him for his ability to market himself, as well. You might check out his dance video, then follow it up with Tom Segura's response dance video.. They're best friends and the lengths that their pranks go to is ridiculous. If you start looking him up and your comments start to get weird.. things about jeans, and how fat he is, how he's the most racist comic in the world and he fucks dogs.. par for the course.

The first episode was great with Joey Diaz. But, it felt so uncomfortable from then on. It was clear the guests weren't briefed on what was going to happen which led to pure awkwardness, but luckily to some degree they actually spoke their minds and said they wanted nothing to do with that fake reality show shit
