Skip to 0:05:00 for the beginning of the sinking.

This documentary was created for the 100th anniversary of the sinking of HMHS Britannic, sister ship of the infamous RMS Titanic, in November 2016. This full-length animation of the Britannic sinking, beginning with the impact of the mine and ending with her sinking, is in real time. This is a complete animation; not a short animation that was slowed down to match real time. This is also highly accurate as the team has contacted many well noted Britannic and Titanic historians for their input and resources on this project:

Mark Chirnside
Jack Eaton
Charles Haas
Richie Kohler
Michail Michailakis
Simon Mills
Mike Poirier
Bill Sauder

The documentary also includes narration from noted Titanic historians:

Daniel Klistorner
Ken Marschall
Parks Stephenson

Including narration from producer of our game, "Titanic: Honor and Glory," Matthew DeWinkeleer, and many survivor accounts from a voice cast of actors:

Ellen Gilbert
Olivia Gilmer
Nigel Hampson
Scotty Lorenz
Thomas Lynskey
James Penca
Dan Smith
Jordan Toovey
Annelies van Overbeek
Nicholas Walsh
Ophelia Wollny
Rossin Wood

A clock is included in the top right corner keeping track every five minutes, including key moments.

The animation was created in Unreal Engine 4. The model used is a combination of parts recycled from our T:HG model, re-textured models, older models created by our team, and a few new bits made just for Britannic.

Can we all take a second and pay respect to the amazing woman Violet Jessop.

The Lady was on the RMS Olympic. Was on the Titanic when it sank. Then managed to not only survive the Britannic sinking but then also survive the damn ships propeller trying to turn her into hamburger and come too in a pool of body parts. Talk about one tough and brave woman.

Fun fact: in June-July of 1916, the Britannic was actually pulled out of hospital service and repained as a passenger liner with White Star. However this only lasted until August and she never served on a passenger voyage. She was again requisitioned as a hospital ship and repainted that month, and 3 months later, sank.

Can you imagine the feeling of relief when you finally get into one of the lifeboats... only to realize that your lifeboat is headed straight for the still spinning propellers?

I gotta say. Props to the crew that are survivors of the Titanic that have the courage to work on another ship despite the trauma and ptsd they must’ve had

All things considered, it's remarkable only 30 people died.

What I learned from watching this kind of vids:
1) Ship can sunk very fast, much faster than "Titanic" movie ends.
2) Don't evacuate by boats if the ship is moving. Really.
3) If the crew asking you for don't panic, it's time to panic.
4) If the ship's bow is underseas u have about 5-10 mins to gettafckouthathere.

The sea carrying on after the ship has sunk, as if it never happened is what gets me every time.

Captain Bartlett is truly amazing. Even with the bow of his ship almost completely underwater he still tried to limp her to shore.

Captain Bartlett is unfairly criticized regarding this accident:

1) According to Wikipedia, the ship could stay afloat with 6 or less compartments exposed which was the case here. What killed the ship was the open portholes, but Captain Bartlett wasn't aware of this. His efforts to beach the ship was not foolish optimism as the Britannic would have been able to pull this off if not for the open portholes. If he did not try to beach the ship, insurances would have sued him to bankrupt ("Why didn't you try to beach the ship ?! You were only some miles away !").

2) The lifeboats ripped by the turbines are not his fault. It is the crew who launched the lifeboats without his order while the ship was moving.

3) He got out of the Britannic only when the ship was doing its final plunge and when the bridge was flooded so much he could swim. For all he knew, he was the last on board. And he didn't board a lifeboat, he just jumped overboard to the sea. So, in a way, he did go down with the ship.

This deserves some respect. He only had 50 minutes to act. He tried his luck and only failed because of unforeseen circumstances.

Respect to the camera man who went out there and filmed all this.

Edit: There are way too many people saying that i'm wrong and that it's animated. I do not think it's hard to understand that this comment is a joke

Just to imagine that without that tragic lifeboat incident there could be no casualties at all. Captain Bartlett and his crew were true heroes

Cheers to Captain Bartlett. He made sure everyone else abandoned ship before even thinking of leaving the helm. He was prepared to go down with his ship alone. That is honor.

Captain Bartlett is quite the badass, thinking about everyone and his ship, and when there were no hope of saving the ship, he just walks towards the water and just swims.

Violet Jessop being the victim of the three Titanic sisters is either really lucky to survive or really cursed to be victim of the three...
