Traditional bows are more physically demanding and require better technique to shoot well.

I started archery after 9 years of range shooting. I could definitely say that after the basic course made with the recurve bow i "saw the light" when i used for the first time a compound. Compounds are definitely much more like a rifle and i loved them almost immediately. They have a trigger, a real sight and when you aiming you really feel like youre holding a weapon. With the recurves i never felt anything similar.. Im sure that some people would find the traditional bows more funny to shoot, but when it comes to precision, raw power and hunting performance its a no contest.. Compounds are on another planet.

Dropped compound after i realised how liberating it is to shoot instinctive. Not to mention lighter and easier to carry and maintain on the hunt. (#60)

It's settled, I need a traditional bow.

I want a recurve traditional bow and a compound bow. Nice ski and snowboard analogy.

Thanks a lot! This is the video I've been looking for. I was going to get a compound but know I realized it's the traditional the one that suits me

i already know basically everything you just said, but it's so pleasing hear you talk, sitting in my chair, half a smile, nodding to everything you said.

Awesome video for a beginner like me without even a bow. My 8yo daughter has been asking to lean for a while and this is a big help for bringing the sport into focus.

I appreciate the snowboard/ski reference. I use it all the time when I am trying to get more friends into snow sports. I'm looking to get into archery and this video was very helpful. Thank you!

Excellent video! This is the very first day I ever thought about buying a bow, I’ll check out your resources. Love the ski analogy.

I liked compounds because of the idea of tinkering, I loved the idea of taking a bow and tuning it with a set of arrows to be spot on with accuracy! Unfortunately a lot of compound is dominated by hunting, so you have to look a little deeper in order to find target compound material... some of my favorite compound shooters include: Jesse (the freak show) Broadwater, Chris Bee, and Kris Schaff!

"Expensive" is my new bow eating up my, "full" stimulus check, ...and then some!🤪

I've shot both styles of bow and now I just shoot a recurve. It's just me and a simple bow. If I'm in the zone, I'm hitting the target. If I'm off I know it's not the bow. I sometimes shoot with a group. Of course with 4-6 people you need to keep it interesting so low score normally buys the first round after we get done. I'm normally the only one with a traditional bow and can't compete on the longer shots at a normal walking range. I also rarely end up buying the first round because I know with a large group someone will have an equipment failure with all that high tech equipment. It doesn't take much to knock a pin sight out of alignment or have a trigger malfunction. Unless I break my bow or lose all my arrows I will at least finish the course. Yes, I carry a second used ( already stretched) string and I wear a glove so I don't have much to worry about for equipment.

I started to hunt around 2015 with a cross bow by 2021 i moved to compound bow but this year im using a trad bow.. the journey been really hard and expensive but if i was going to do it over ill start with the compound bow. The crossbow teaches you a lot of bad habits in the woods that you have to unlearn when you move over to compound

This was the first comparison that gave me the info I needed.

traditional bow is a lifestyle! unites bow, body and mind. compound bow is cool, but I didn't feel a soul in it !!!

I love shooting my recurve it is real archery. Unfortunately with all my injuries losing vision in my right eye in an explosion being the most difficult. I am having so much trouble shooting anything over 15 yards. I just have so much trouble with depth perception I believe. So I might be forced to get another compound. But I am not giving up yet.

I've tried both but prefer my compound bow but only because I went to compound first and really came about from using firearms in the past.... love watching your videos keep up the good work and greetings from the uk..
