Experimenting

Hey, I'm still alive!

Thanks to the summer sale, i've been busy playing instead of making vids. But I still managed to put this together as an experiment:

I now have imported my GMod items to SFM successfully (previously they kept disappearing if the camera was too close). I also tried out using transparent textures with custom objects, in this case, a simple board I made, which now allows me import the imahes I want to SFM as a floating one sided image, as you can see in the vid.

Hopefully I'll get back to making proper videos, but before that, I have more experimenting to do...

PS: I also noticed and confirmed that YouTube runs vids at 30 frames per second. You should see the original 60 FPS version, MUCH smoother.

This is really cool and would be a great all-purpose technique for all sorts of videos. Share the wealth, man!

That could actually become really useful. I mean, if you wanted to identify a person through text, and wanted it to actually mix into the video other than just some Sony Vegas text, then I could see a lot of people using something like that. IMMERSION!

For sure! I'm not sure there will be many uses for it besides a name identification, but there should be some sorta use for it in the future haha

To be fair, editing text over is as simple as motiontracking every single frame (though it will still kind of shift awkwardly unless you're REALLY good at it haha) But if you wanted to get that 3D text like shown in this video, it's much better than Sony Vegas. However, I'm sure After Effects could pull it off. Still, this seems like a much simpler, and even more efficient method.
