The quote that actually set Ted’s brother off was “cool headed logicians”. Apparently Ted used that one a lot as a teen and young adult.

When people say “I could care less”, that really gets to me.

They experimented with him in college, that man was a genius.

His brother told him he'd get him back for correcting him all these years... And he meant it

He did recognize the style of writing first, the icing on the cake was the quotation.

the real quote the tipped his brother off was "frog nips be dry af", he hadn't heard it since he was a teenager, but recognised it instantly

“Cool headed logicians” was actually the phrase. Ted had written a letter to his brother years prior that contained that phrase, when the manifesto was published he went and found that letter and that’s when he made the connection.

Everything he stated in his manifesto came true.

Although this is a cautionary tale, its important to correct people. There are phrases and expressions in language that have come to mean entirely different things or THEIR OPPOSITE because people twisted them to fit the status quo.

"Curiosity killed the cat" to tell children to stop asking questions. The real phrase is "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back." Meaning the endeavor of learning is worth getting a scrap, or having a scare. [EDIT TURNS OUT I WAS WRONG the real phrase dates back to like shakespeare, someone in the comments pointed out that the original phrase is "Care killed the cat" and they were right. Check your sources kids. "Care" is weird because its older english, its used in the context of worrying about others.

"Blood is thicker than water" is used by people to say that you should put your family first. The real phrase is "The blood of the covenant is thicker than the Water of the Womb" which MEANS THE OPPOSITE. That cultivated relationships can outgrow unexplored familial bonds.

EDIT: There's more:

"An eye for an eye[...]and the whole world goes blind." - I wont say there isn't justice in revenge, because at times, there is, but if all we did was inflict on others the pain we feel, the world would be over, this is a fact. Although Eye for an Eye is a real law dating back to before jesus in Summeria, look up the code of Hammurabi

"Jack of all trades, master of none" ... "Still better than a master of one." - There's truth in this, but I guess it depends on the one skill? LOL

I actually met the Unabomber in superior Montana. He helped me with my bicycle. It was winter time. I used a rope to wrap around my tire for traction kinda like tire chains, but with a rope he helped me with tying the knot, because mine kept coming undone.

FBI had no clue how to get him till his brother snitched.

No, it wasn't the brother, it was the brother's wife, who compared the letters Tedy (The Uni bomber) had sent them and a manifesto he had sent to the press. It was not that quote.

A real Patriot, that one. He was right.

Ted's brother David has told conflicting versions of the story, but once said in an interview that his wife realized it first. They compared it to writings his parents still had and found an earlier version of ISAIF, with numerous paragraphs verbatim.
