Equally as challenging, independently different, but tremendously rewarding – our nurses share their individual stories about why they decided to pursue specialty nursing.

I have a lot of respect for nurses. Would be great if they were paid more. They are the backbone of the medical field. Thank you for your service.

I worked in the ER admitting and really liked the fast paced environment in the ER dept. There’s always something new and different to learn everyday! If I go back to school again for nursing, I’d choose ER nursing as my specialty to go into

I don’t know if all nurses are detached from the patients, yes you can’t let your emotions over ride your duty to care for a pain in an emergency situation when the emergency is going on, or the emotion will get in the way of clarity in that moment. But what I think is what makes a truly good nurse is that they can put themselves in that patients shoes, empathise with how you would feel if things were reversed or if that were your loved one lying there suffering in their place. That is when a patient feels your connection to them and in times when a patient is scared that is exactly what they need is to feel like someone has got their back, that they are not alone and that someone understands what they must be going through. Once you get cold to that then I really do not think you do your job justices. My thoughts anyway. It’s how I have always been as a nurse and I truly think patients are grateful and their experience is a better one when they feel that connection with you. :) each yo there own and we all have different personalities, doesn’t mean they are not good nurses it’s just how they get through their day. Respect ! ;)

Nurses are the best people in the world. I've been in and out of hospitals a lot of times, and I give credit where credit is due. I always try to be as polite as I can. I treat them with the utmost respect because they put up with so much each day. NURSE LOVE! NURSE LOVE! NURSE LOVE! ❤

My son was battling leukemia and an angel saved his life - it was an Intensive Care Nurse named Nikki. My son remains in remission, and I hope all the angels who kept him alive are doing well. Pay them more - they deserve it.

Hopefully she only has 1 patient, being that it's a Level 1 Trauma center. Our hospital stacks us with 5 other patients, when getting a level 1. Nice vid though. Hopefully she has a good ratio. And that's great she is doing the primary assessment. Our hospitals the MD residents do it.

It’s amazing that football players get paid millions but nurses and doctors WHO SAVE LIVES get paid very little.
