I guess everyone else saw something I didn't. Just looked like a coupling, a stretch, and a brake line connection to me.

Pretty much normal conversation while making trains up.

I'm a engineer been one for 19 years.I take it easy on couplings especially when I have 8000 feet and 16000 tons shoving back. Conductor usually is riding too and sometimes it can be over a mile. I always try to have my train under control. Never had an incident so I guess I am a pretty good one. Never had a complaint from anyone and I enjoy working with all my brothers and sisters. I just try to keep a visual in my mind and remember the 4 years I was a conductor.

Staaarech 'em oouuut! Just like being back at werk. Yesss, werk. Joint made, making air hose, cut air in slowly enough so as not to dump the air, walk back up to the engine, make sure your student doesn't fall in a ditch.
Ya made a good video, son, thank you.👍👍🚂

Looks like the conductor was a little impatient with the engineer for almost stopping when he got to three feet.

As a short line conductor we get paid by the day not the hour and have a lot of switching to get done between every town. I’m guessing that locomotive was only a car away from the joint. If you have a big train, a lot of locomotives, or is coming in too hot and you get it stopped before hitting… That’s fine. When someone is light power or doesn’t have a lot of cars and they constantly stop short all the time then really creep or hit too hard to where the pin refuses to drop. It gets very frustrating when you’re in the get er done quickly mood or “zoned in” if you’ll say. Will say just keep the camera off the conductors and more focused on the engines. It’s very easy to get someone in trouble over the tiniest movement they do anymore.

If that's considered frustrated, then half of my jobs have had full-blown meltdowns.

Rumor has it people are still trying to see why he was frustrated to this day.

Control the speed with distance calls. If the engineer is driving slow, you might want to increase the distance remaining a little to keep a steady flow. Engineers sometimes tell me, the last (say 10 feet) they are rolling to the stop, so each single foot can be useless to mention.

Completed air hose coupling. That was precise and quickly performed by expert team workers and the operator in the tower.

That switchman is not frustrated he is counting car length to the engineer,

This is interesting. It always scares me when he steps in-between the cars to connect the air breaks. Wow. Good video. Thanks.

Why was he frustrated? I don't get it. Looked perfectly normal to me.

I can tell the engineer stopped early when the conductor got frustrated 😂😂, I understand his pain

As a retired engineer sometimes it has a lot to do with what type of Locomotive using some can be super slow to respond or it might be someone new in the seat .so many different reasons for this don't blame the engineer without really knowing what's going on. I had engines that were just super slow to respond it really drives you insane when you have a engine like that.

Actually coupling to a 1075 car is a boom boom car of LPG. As an engineer I always tried to make soft joints.

I'll be a train fanatic until the day I die I just loved hearing the wine of the generators and the engine powering up just a super-cool sight-and-sound but I didn't see or hear anything out of the ordinary either

That's the correct way to do couple up locomotive to train
