My December Wrap Up

I had an okay reading month in December but due to coming down with some germy yuck yuck I filmed my wrap up early. Still, I am SO excited that my series wrap up TBR for the month lead me to finishing 7 series before 2017 started. I feel so much better knowing those are off my TBR. Here are the other books I finished this month that I didn’t have a chance to mention in the video.

I'm a mom a four, and I bawled like crazy reading A Monster Calls. I cried for the mom, I cried for the boy. I could never imagine the pain either of them felt. oh man, that book still makes me tear up.

I read A Monster Calls when it was first released and it still breaks my heart when I think about it now. Such a moving book.
I am in awe of how many books you read this month and how many series you finished, I managed 3! And totally with you on Scarlet and Wolf, I want more of their story!

Great wrap up! I hope you're feeling better! I SO agree with you about A Monster Calls, such a deep, emotional book, esp. for someone like me, I went through treatment for breast cancer in 2014, mastectomy, chemo, and radiation, so this book really touched those deep emotions for me! I am going to share it with my Mum, and I DO want to see the movie, I guess it's a little different for me, having gone through the treatment. (I'm cancer free now, last mammogram was great, am ok for another year, yay!!) I am reading several books right now, mainly Lilac Girls along w/the bookclub I follow here, #onthebooktubeshelf, so far the book is good, tho I'm just getting started with it. Take care!! ☺

Oh yes, someone else that does not like the love triangle in Shatter Me series, and yes I think Kengi is the best character in the whole series . You had such a productive month, amazing books, love to listen to your thoughts because you are so honest.

A monster Calls ripped me to shreds, It made me UGLY, gasping for breath, cry. It touched my soul and quickly became one my favorite books of all time. I agree with you though, it may not be for everyone. Have you ever read The Storied Life Of AJ Fikry? That's one of my favorites too.

I'm glad you liked the Infernal Devices ! I'm not a fan of the Mortal Instruments(i hated them bc of clary and jace), but i loved the infernal devices.

I liked the photos in A Monster Calls but it just didn't affect me at all and it was just ok for me. Currently reading The Lunar Chronicles, gave Cinder three stars as I liked it but it wasn't anything mindblowing.

Julie I know you love books about Fae .. I just finished a trilogy called The 13 Treasure trilogy i absolutely loved them the fairy aspect in the books was amazing ...

I didnt love Clockwork angel so I don't think I'll continue on with the trilogy :/ but I LOVED Lady Midnight. You should check it out!! Her writing has grown a lot since mortal instruments

Yeah, I don't think I'll be seeing A Monster Calls in the theater. I've lost a child to SIDS, and my oldest child's name is Connor. That walk through grief hit a little too close to home. I was inconsolable while reading this book. Definitely a movie I will watch at home.

I love that lipstick also. Really pretty with your hair. 💌 I have to say I'm reading Scarlet, Lunar Chronicles, and so far I love it. I loved Cinder too. I too, had a hard time with Cinder in the first chapter, because I'm not a Science Fiction Reader. But even with Scarlet, now, I believe this Series is so good. I really like Scarlet and Wolf, and it's hard to put down. I love the characters, the world, how Marissa tells this story, and so glad I gave Cinder a chance. I actually had to go buy Scarlet, Cress, and Winter, because I was so into the story, and still am. The covers are pretty Also. I do have a Q @A for you. Will you or have you thought about picking up the other new Novella called Stars Above in this Series? It's 9, I believe short stories based on each of the Characters. I'm speaking from someone (myself) who could not finish Chapter 1, in Cinder because I just wasn't into it, and not sci-fi retelling of a fairy tale. I'm so glad I did, because it got better and sad at the same time. I think I told you I could not finish it. Anyway, it's hard to put down, you never know what happens next? Marissa has a graphic novel coming out Jan 31 based on the Lunar Chronicles, with Iko I think?
So my question for you is will you read Stars Above?
Great Video, As Always. I like your opinions. I want to read the Anna series, and Lola and Isla. There's another Colleen Hoover book I'm interested in but cannot remember the title. it's got purple flowers or purple on it, something like It Ends With Us? but I could be wrong.
I don't know why I can't finish City of Bones, but I think I'll start the Infernal Devices again. I started reading Clockwork Angel last summer, really liked it, but had to go into the hospital for a Hysterectomy. Just didn't pick it back up. The new covers are pretty with the Angels. I have the original covers, but had to have Clockwork Princess with the new Cover, I found on Book Outlet.
I can't get over how many series you finished. That's great. Happy New Year, and hope you feel better. Seriously, your funkos in the background are so cute. I need to get the Harry Potter ones.

My interest is SO piqued now about "A Monster Calls"! I've seen a few different reviews about it, and they all have the same conclusion: Too deep to "recommend", but worth checking out. lol
