Even after all these sequels, none of them have managed to recapture the raw intensity and emotional weight of the original Jurassic Park. What set the first movie apart wasn’t just the groundbreaking effects or the awe of seeing dinosaurs brought to life—it was the fear. Real, palpable fear.

In Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs weren’t just cool or thrilling—they were terrifying. You could see it in the characters, especially the kids. They weren’t cracking jokes or brushing it off like a wild adventure. They looked legitimately traumatized by the end. You felt their panic in the kitchen with the raptors, their helplessness when the T. rex attacked the car. It was survival.

Compare that to Jurassic World and its sequels—people are literally being chased by dinosaurs, falling off cliffs, escaping underwater, and two scenes later they’re laughing and high-fiving like it was a rollercoaster ride. It takes all the tension out of it. The dinosaurs are no longer a force of nature—they're a theme park attraction again, ironically.

Why do they insist on saying its going to bring back the wonder. It won't. It's impossible to capture that feeling at that time again. It was new, had cutting edge CGI and brought dinosaurs to the big screen in a unique way for the first time. You can't do that again. Especially after there's been five or so sequels since. They're setting themselves up for failure. Show don't tell.

I am remaining hopeful, but I still get a whiff of cheesiness with this one. Still looks and feels like a Jurassic World movie rather than a Jurassic Park movie. I'd be more sold on it if they changed the title back to "Park" and turned the colour down a little.

I LIKE ALL THE MOVIES IN THIS AMAZING FRANCHISE. One of the best franchises ever. There is no Jurassic movie I do not like.

I am just hoping David Koeop to surprise me. Nothing else piques my interest than his association. But still his interview bit about raft scene makes me think that they have strung together some thriller set pieces with science just used as filler or afterthought. Jurassic Park taught me about technology as a kid which I later on got to use personally. I don't see iota of science fiction in the trailer but I still hope koepp has managed to somehow shoehorn it in jurassic world abominations.

None of what I've seen here says they're going back to basics. The first Jurassic Park showed the dinosaurs as animals, with humans taking advantage of the natural world trying to play gods. This looks like just another monster movie.

I'm still going to watch it though, but only because I love dinosaurs.

Glad to hear this is returning back to form. My hope is that it has that horror element that the first one had, cause I'm sorry, Jurassic World just wasn't that good when they forced the Raptors to play heroes.
