My old old hairdresser said my hair wouldn't grow past my shoulders, it's now past my hips, so yes you are absolutely right

As someone who plays guitar and rarely does their nails, i have to be careful not to touch my hair/wash it when my callouses are chewed up from the strings or my nails are broken.. making sure your own hands are in a soft & smooth condition is important as well to avoid breakage which i never hear anyone mention because its probably not an issue for most people but i thought i'd throw it out there just in case :) great video, awesome tips!

I'd also like to add that nutrition plays a big role. When I was eating crappy, I had crappy hair that wouldn't grow. When I started eating a lot more fruits and vegetables, what a difference it made!

Mine hasn't grown past my shoulders in forever...stress and menopause and genetics are against me. But I'm on this hair journey and my hair is so happy. So, even if it doesn't grow super long, I'm loving myself by caring for my hair ❤

You can definitely grow your hair even with color hair & heat tools. It's about using the proper products to protect your hair, Redken injection shampoo, leave in conditioner (Purelogy), heat protection cream for hair dryer, heat spray protection for hair straightener and hair oil to seal ends. Weekly hair Mask for hair as well.

P.S this is coming from bad hair genetics, my mom's natural hair is fine and fried, mine is past my butt 🙂 it grows fast, it's just taking care of it and preventing your hair from losing its moisture

In my youth my hair was exactly like yours now. Except darker and naturally wavy.
Then, one day I decided to shave my hair out and I'll probably never let it grow again.
It's too much work! hahaha
But its beautiful! And I think is even more amazing that you're doing it after all that damage. Congrats!

Please make more hair videos! I’d love a video about washing your hair and about your experiences with hair salons. Your hair is beautiful. I have had short hair for the last several years and I’m excited for my own long hair journey. You are so motivating!

I loved this video. THANK YOU!!

1. Conditioner bars-Viori or Kitsch

2. I get “fairy” knots but in a single hair. They are so tight I end up taking hair cutting scissors (yes I bought professional scissors) and will snip just above the knot. I don’t know how else to get them out.

3. I do “hunt and peck” where I will trim individual split ends—do you do this? How often do you get a trim?

4. Do you put any oils or products in your hair? You seem pretty natural/conscientious (I like that—I don’t use silicones or a variety of other things in my hair).

Please make more videos!!

A tip for detangling carefully: get the famous mason pearson brush. It doesn’t pull on tangles, instead it lets them go. Which allows you to detangle with your fingers. It’s amazing! I’ve had my mason pearson for two years now

One thing I _try_ to avoid (but can’t always) is wearing fleece hoodies or any rough textured tops, sweaters and jackets. I noticed years ago that they cause bad tangles in the hair at the back of my head and neck… which is also the most difficult place for me to hand detangle.

Hi Natalia, I really found your hair videos to be extremely informative. Please do more, I’ve been on a hair journey for about three years and I find I’m at a bit of a stand still again. Also, you look super fit and healthy, so maybe you can do some fitness, what I eat videos. Thank you, Marcelle

Hair sticks are a definite must for me! My hair pretty much grows long no matter what, but hair sticks are just so much more secure than the hair ties I used before and they cause very little breakage when used carefully. And also hair pins are way better than those nasty Bobby pins that rip out hairs when you take them out.

My scalp was always itchy and my hair fell out in distressing ways. I started rinsing my hair with diluted apple cider vinegar and it immediatley made a difference with the itch and hairfall. I feel so empowered.

Cool. I realise I already do some of these things out of pure uninterest with my hair, and a tad of laziness, I guess. And I have always gotten comments about my hair being long, thick and nice. Guess I can notch things up a bit after this list of useful tips.
From my own experience, the one single thing that has made the most difference during later years, is that I have changed brushes, so I totally support and subscribe to your tips about that. For most of my life I used the plastic ones with nobs on the pins. A few years ago, at a local market, I found handmade wooden brushes and bought one. It had wooden pins, still with the nobs on top, but they were so much smoother to the hair than the plastic ones. I think it's got a lot to do with electricity. My hair stopped being so tangled and electrically static.
Then last year, being in a hurry and needing to detangle the hair when already on my way out of the front door, I used the cat's brush instead. We had a kitten with really long and thin hairs so we had a pretty expensive "showdog" brush for her. Being in a pinch, I borrowed that and was amazed at how easily it detangled the hair in a few brushes, without getting stuck. So I bought one for myself too. The pins are made of metal, but very smooth and without any distinct nobs on top of the pins. The ad for the brush actually said it was superb for detangling dog hairs for show dogs. Go figure... hahaha.

Hey Natalia! I would recommend trying the conditioner bars from Ethique. I love their shampoo and conditioner bars. They are the only ones that don't dry out my fine, wavy hair. Really gentle products. They also have a hair sampler pack so you can try out a few of the bars before committing to a larger one.

Your hair looks good. My grandparents had a few old towels that was a bit different, and I was told that when they where young, towels where not usually terry cloth, but a woven cotton and linen. They mangled bed linen and these towels and it all looked very clean and neat. I think you can still get these of you look for them especially. I should not really give any advice on long hair, you probably know more than me, but I have looked a few approaches to protect the hair. To protect against daily wear and tear, regular applications of oils, and conditioning ingredients like ceramides and keratin (a lot of shampoos and conditioners have them) can make a difference. They can prevent hair from getting brittle and porous. If you don't like plastic bottles, some hair products, come in glass dropper bottles. You are of course spot on, the longer the hair is, the older the ends will be, and it is all about protection, care and conditioning to keep it. I know some swear to only use boar bristle brushes and are gentle on the hair. Protection against sun might be a factor too. My cousin had manage to get her light blond hair (natural) to about tail bone lenght, and after a holiday in Spain, bathing in the sea and the strong sun there; when she came home it all broke off just below the shoulder blades, tears and sorrow). My sisters hair wasn't as thick and full as it used to be couple of years ago, after she started on iron and vitamin B supplent (a bloot test showed she low on them), it grew back. All kinds of things we easily ignore can make a difference.

Oiling my hair with hydrating oils before my showers has been a huge game-changer for me! My Hair type is 1B/F/iii.
