Two important things I have learned so far (and once in a while I need to remember them myself): 1. Always remember to not compare yourself to others. We are all different individuals and we pay different attention to details (forms, colours etc.). This is what makes every painting special and unique. 2. Have FUN. Enjoy the process and take your time (as said in the video). Progress comes with time.
Nitin Singh, thank you for the adcive and sharing your experiences with us. It is quite motivating to hear (and read in the comments) that we all make the same experience and that we can overcome those struggels.

P.s: Sorry for any grammar mistakes. I'm not a native speaker.

Hi Nitin, this is fantastic advice. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I have only just found your channel and it's the inspiration I was missing up until now.

These principles can apply to learning most new skills. I'm still just scratching the surface, having been inspired initially by another YouTuber, Mr. Shibasaki, who really emphased the aspect of enjoying the process. I started with frequent painting and then gradually I stopped. I still do paintings occasionally, but I lack any consistency. I've since started doing pencil drawings and now combining the skills to do sketches before applying water colours.

I can see that it's a process that requires lots of patience and practice. However, I am enjoying it and I wont give up. There are so many good channels on YouTube, but I need to spend less time watching videos on YouTube and more time practising sketching and painting. The creative juices don't flow on demand, we have to invite them to come out from within and reveal themselves. Being in the right space and frame of mind is very important. Having a workspace, like yours in the video, that is set up ready for action is also important. At the moment I have to set up everying each time I start to paint, so this is affecting my consistency.

Thank you so much for this video. I've been diligently practicing watercolors for a year now. Every morning I wake up at 6 and draw and paint for an hour. But I still feel dejected and feel I am not improving with my watercolors. I'm not sure where I am falling short.
