Malagueña is a fun piece to play. The word, Malagueña, means a few different things. It refers to folk music from Venezuela, it also refers to a type of traditional flamenco music from Andalusian. I first came across this melody when I heard somebody perform Francisco Tarrega’s arrangement of the song.

I have made two arrangements of the Malaguena: an easy version and a hard version. This arrangement is the easier version. It’s a great melody and I have always loved playing it.

I just nailed this malagueña --then I memorised E phrygian scale painstakingly ---over several weeks --then I got messed uo with phrygian scales & modes complications --so I returned too the safety of malagueña and the little I learned --it got FAR TOO HAIRY !

I've tried both versions hard & easy but in parentheses I preferred the 1st one because it gives the opportunity to experiment and practice different techniques.
