Just a warning to people from poorer countries who accept labouring jobs in Dubai. Make sure you go through a reputable employment agency. If anyone tries to take your passport when you get there, you should be very worried. Do a lot of research before travelling to a foreign country, no matter which purpose you are travelling for, but do double research when travelling for employment. There have been cases of Indians and Bangladeshis who have been held as kind of slave captives for labouring, in a similar way to girls who have accepted jobs in different countries, find themselves being kept as sex slaves, after having their passports taken off them and the original employment contracts are ignored, and the cost of travel has to be paid off before the passport is returned. On slave wages this is impossible. It's a scam. This is not the normal thing, but it does happen. So check, double check, triple check.

Correction: Dubai doesn't have a 'Postal Address' System. Instead people can only send letters to a 'P.O. Box' and they have to be collected from the Post Office. No one delivers letters there.

Zéro crime? I watched two documentaries that filmed slave Like practices with people attracted from poor countries and then having their passeports confiscated, this is not uncommon. They make them work in 50 degree Celsius heat, without necessarily having access to water, they work long hours, they get payed wages that makes it impossible for these people to go back to their families. And they house them in bad conditions. This is not considered criminal in this country. I’m not sure I do

My daughter went to Dubai to study, and she absolutely loved it! She said it was the cleanest place on the planet! The people were friendly and very kind, and when she got lost one man helped her with directions on how to get back to her apartment. No crime to speak of, you could eat off the sidewalks they were spotless, well mannered people both gracious and accepting of foreigners. My daughter also loved the prayer music from her bedroom window, she said it was peaceful and soothing and helped her to sleep at night.
