I always reel it up half way and put the hook through one of the small eyes towards the top and reel the rest of the slack and she stays without bending the rod

Only time it’s acceptable is on the deck of the boat. Especially my topwaters for when I see fish schooling on top or if I saw one just hit something on the surface nearby. That way I can pick up that rod, click the button, let it drop a few inches and cast immediately

Honestly my spinning rod Is like that but not normally and I have swapped to fly for a little bit so haven't used the rod for a little while

I feel personally attacked!! I do this with my treble hook baits while I’m banking fishing to keep them from hooking my bag or a tree. 😂

This is so ironic. Myself never does this but my Grandad… WHEW. We go fishing all the time and that’s the only way he’ll hang his lure up. It always gets hooked on my poles and my line and he doesn’t even realize it does that. He a good old guy tho so I can’t fuss lol😂

I feel attacked 😂 Just depends on what kinda day I’m having. If I’m fed up, I just don’t care and reel them in to the top hole and set them on the deck. Bad habit that I need to break
