My favourite part is how the bass keeps sounding when he passes it over.

This is genius! I was trying to describe what the bass does in a song and you encapsulated it so succinctly! Thank you❤

Basically sounds have frequencies, that are represented by numbers above 0, humans can listen from 20hz to 20000hz, the amount of frequencies between those values are infinite. Piano as some example have the same sound at different frequencies, that goes from low (left) to high (right)
An instrument is limited by an amount of keys, and have a limited amount of frequencies it can play (exceptions are violin, slide trumpet, slide trombone fretless guitar), so we need to decide what frequencies it can play. 99.9% of musicians outside africa and asia decided to follow some rule called 12 tone equal temperament with A4 being 440hz.
An piano can play most of the frequencies that follow previous rule and are at the 20-20000hz frequency range, but most other instruments can't have 88 "keys/notes", this means you need to have various versions of the same instrument to play the different frequencies. This happens with guitar, and so you need more than one version of the same instrument.
You have the electric guitar and then you have the electric bass guitar that plays lower notes than the electric guitar ones.

I keep rewatching this video, not because I don't understand, but because I love the sound.
