My husband had weight loss surgery. He had to go through MONTHS of meeting with doctors & dietitians before he was approved. It’s mind blowing that after a 30 min conversation, a child is allowed to change their lives forever.

I worked for Medicaid for several years and I ended up quitting bc other than the government trying to make me and others take the jab I was disgusted by how much favoritism they have toward the lgbtq people. I’ve witnessed first hand how quickly they approve a complete sex change worth about $60K but for a simple MRI needed for necessary health issues took so much red tape to get it approved. I felt incredibly disgusted by this, watching how veterans or elderly people had to go through so much to get a wheelchair, or a prosthetic leg, hand, etc., 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm a child and adolescent therapist and I asked them and their parents to please please....if you can wait until at least age 21 before ever considering any surgery or hormones. Just dress like the sex you want but don't make a physical alteration to your body. Years later those students... now adults have contacted me saying thank you for advising them to wait it out. All are living as their birth sex and feel so happy to have found their way back to themselves without taking that drastic surgery route.

Children should not be allowed to do this to their bodies. Period.

I became a Nurse Manager of a nursing unit where males who were undergoing transition from male to female were patients. I can honestly say that not one patient had a good experience. There were always problems. Please understand that these doctors/surgeons were the most experienced in one of the largest cities in the United States. This shows us clearly how far we have fallen as a society. Horrific that a child is allowed to make these decisions.

One very important thing to note. He said that he didn't even know what being trans was until he saw it online and on TV with Jazz Jennings. Normally, you would think if a person thought they were the opposite sex, they wouldn't need to "see" it, you would just "know" it. This shows you how culture plays a role in enticing someone to transition.

My child came to me at age 12 and showed me a video jumping around saying that’s what I am, I’m transgender. I didn’t handle it very well a begged and pleaded to reconsider.
School got in touch with social services and they got in touch with the clinic. I took my son hoping to receive really good therapy. I was very mistaken. I wasn’t allowed into therapy with my child but I thought ok they are helping him. He was diagnosed body dysmorphia. Then things like surgery & medication was bought up which is when I put on the brakes. (He was too young for that.)
That’s when social services crashed down on me accusing me of emotional neglect. They harassed me and threatened me for several years to remove all my children saying I couldn’t meet their emotional needs. When my son turned 18 he did jump in and had surgery plus medication which they fell over themselves to give him.
I’m not against transgender, I was against my son having his body changed and strong medications while still growing. Once he was an adult he could do what he wanted. Well two years in from surgery and medication and I’m currently getting ready to go do my daily visit at the mental hospital where his being held.
He needed proper therapy all those years.
I know I did the right thing to not let the clinic and social services do what they wanted at such a young age even at the threat of losing my children but if he’d received the right therapy for all those years he may not be where he is now.
The Testosterone has tipped his mental health right over the edge.

Update: I found out my son’s mental health declined so rapidly because they had put him on way too much testosterone for his small frame. It literally made him lose his mind. His currently back in hospital and an ECG has revealed an enlarged heart.

So you can't diagnose a personality disorder in a child until they are 18, as they are not considered to be fully developed yet. But you can allow a child to make an irreversible life decision? Absolutely crazy!

This should be required viewing for every medical student, every surgeon, every gender clinic employee, every family struggling with a gender-confused child. As a former physician, I am appalled and ashamed at my medical colleagues who participated in this butchery. I have never advocated for legal action against physicians and medical personnel, but here is a case that calls for it. Briana, you are a strong and beautiful person and will do the world a lot of good. Keep speaking out. Shame, shame, shame on everyone involved, particularly the first "social worker" who put you on the path, and the Urologist who tortured you.

I was bullied mercilessly for being ugly/ looking like a boy. It was paralysing cause I was all girl. Not that I needed to be validated but the kids just had to specifically tell me how ugly I was and that I looked like a man.

Had it been in this era, I would’ve done irreparable damage to myself. Though I did end up with mental struggles.

Today I’m as woman as woman can get and the total rejection I got has been Devine protection. None of that matters in comparison to inherent human value.

I am so sorry. I commend you for being so brave. The mistreatment from peers really changes lives and it’s so sad.
