We have a decision to make. We believe it's a matter of 'when', not 'if' Adobe will again attempt to double their de facto compulsory subscription prices. We are a mom 'n pop portrait studio in a small town. We ask ourselves if there is any point subscribing to your channel to gain the proficiency we need to produce work that separates us from our competition. When we see new editing products come onto the marketplace that are subscription-free, reasonably priced and don't require years of training, we begin to ask ourselves if we should be tying our wagon to the Adobe super train. When Adobe does hike their subscription fees, we have to pass that cost onto our clients. Clients don't understand subscription fees or Adobe being the dominant player in our industry. We subscribed to Capture One Pro as a potential Lightroom replacement, but had to cancel our renewal when we looked at the yearly fee - over $320CDN; If we purchased the license it's $535CDN. BTW, we did like Capture One and would have made that one time purchase, but these are COVID-19 times and our client base has dwindled. We shoot Canon mirrorless models using RF glass. Adobe and Canon cannot agree on RAW convertors. Canon's DPP will do a proper conversion, but it needs more development to match the speed and editing ease in Lightroom. Affinity Photo, Luminar Ai and other stand alone editing software appear to be our best choices when throwing off the Adobe shackles. When we take a long hard look at the time we need to spend on your channel to maximize our proficiency in PS and weight that against what we believe Adobe will eventually do, we have to UNSUBSCRIBE.

Thank you for the interesting tutorial. Did you use Portaiture in your workflow and how does it compare to Luminar ?
Currently I use a similar workflow by doing the batch work using Photoshop action with Portraiture plugin.

The potention of Luminar is high. Though I'm quite disappointed. For my business portraits I care almost exclusively about: enhancing the eyes (does this perfectly), teeth whitening (does this really poorly) and skin retouching (texture wise really good, fixing spots just extremely inconsistent). Therefore it's barely usable in my opinion (on top of this: software is buggy/laggy and not intuitive). Also quite a complicated workflow. Could have been so much more useful. Pretty frustrating since the potential is right there just waiting to be implemented correctly.

It’s great and all showing an example with an image of someone with nearly perfect skin, but what about people with acne and wrinkles and so on?

Thanks for the video Pye! I decided to give Luminar 4 a test and was happy with the AI Skin Enhancement, but I noticed a ton of strange dead/hot pixels in the dark areas of my photos (on the person). Are you experiencing this too?

nice tuto.
can we imagine vfpresets could be implemented in Luminar4 and in ON1 PR2020 ? It seems a difficult task to make it for Capture One, (perhaps due to camera profiles ?), so I wondered.

Here's how I retouch: I waste three hours on a shoot w/ a model. I shoot hundreds. I give the model....THREE photos. Of her choice. DONE! Because they get what they pay for.
