In this video we take a look at the new Apcsilmic Dot 1 Mini. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7C and runs Windows 11 on Arm! We tes the overall performance, Pc games, game steaming and even Emulation. With up to 8GB of ram and 256GB of storage this tiny low power pc actually performs much better than I thought it would.

Oh man, this looks neat. I'd love to see a version with this with two extra NVMe slots for storage, would make for a neat little home server solution.

It would be interesting to see Minecraft Java Edition running on this system, since (as long as you have the ARM version of the JVM installed) it will be just as "native" to ARM as it is to x86.

Impressive, after the bad results of the firsts devices based on arm it’s a really good news to see these cheap devices with decent performances

I imagine it's a pretty good solution for cloud gaming too.

A couple of days ago, I asked for another video about fanless mini pcs ... and here it is. Thank you so much for another great review! Personally, I would love to see more of fanless mini pcs. So, keep it up 😀

It's pretty crazy that we're about to be at the point where you can get a handheld x86 PC with a touchscreen for the same price as something like this.

We're close to that threshold of real viability for these mobile arm chips on windows. Would be interesting to see a more modern SoC, even the 8c.

I have actually seen people installing windows 11 on their actual phone but this is different

I would like to see a test on linux, to see how it performs. As Arm has been running for a long time on linux, maybe the emulators do better

I would have a use case for that thing in mind, where besides opening a website and send a row of documents to a printer there is nothing more it would need to do. That thing is kind of perfect for that. The perfect kiosk PC. If it is not too expensive...

Running old console emulation inside of x86 emulation running on arm 🤯

would be really cool to be able to put windows on arm on smartphones. (other than sd845 based)

this is pretty impressive considering on paper something like an 870 is like 3x as strong and handles 4k 120fps playback no problem.

Great video, mate! In the next video, would it be possible to test some "everyday" x86 applications, like Office (OpenOffice, LibreOffice...), HandBrake, some photo editor, and so on?
I also wonder how woud Android applications run in this device. Is it possible?
Thanks, see you!

Personally I think that N6000 SBC you showed off last week would be a better option for a low power solution, unless you really needed absolute minimal power draw and/or 4G.

In bench is almost like quad core Q6600 (tdp 105W) what I once had and 12V power suply is good for car implementation. Nice unit.

A comparison to the MeLe quieter 3 would be awesome. They are similar priced, have a similar form factor and are both passively cooled

2:17 Нет. Такой формат существует с ~2008 года - ещё ни одного модуля не было выпущено за всё время. У меня был старый планшет с таким процессором.

You should test zSNES on this CPU. Since it's very optimized x86 code for slower old CPUs, it would be interesting to see how the emulation layer is able to handle it.

One of the big deals with performance is that this poor little chip has to translate from x86 instructions to arm instructions. That's very much like an emulator so when you run something like retroarch you're running an emulator on top of an emulator.

For these open source applications like retroarch you might be able to download the source code and compile it natively yourself.

I believe a native arm port would perform significantly better.
