The fact that the creators of the show tried their best to make the show good, and more than anything else tribute to Monty, with the last 2 episodes, this show exceeded my expectations entirely. They do apparently want to make more for this show, however with all these bad reviews on the internet it isn't likely that Ice Queendom will get the chance.

I loved your video .Yeah I enjoyed a lot watching Ice Queendom although the pacing was a bit slow, I think we could have combined episode 4 and 5 of Ice Queendom into one Episode and it would have flowed so much better pacingwise. Another thing you're right, they probably made Nega Weiss too powerful so battles with her doesn't feel like fights but more like skirmishes .Also I started RWBY with Ice Queendom. I would watch the original later so I saw a lot of reviews kinda saying the first 3 episodes adapting Volume 1 was rushed and it wouldn't be nice to newcomers but I said a lot of people said with Hindsight of watching Volume 1 so it felt rushed to them but neutrally the pacing was okay for episode 1-3. Episode 4-6 is where I thought tthe pacing was the slowest. I would love to see a season 2 of Ice Queendom.

An Error you did the vid: Jaune being introduced wasn't a CRWBY decision. Gen Urobuchi(mind behind Madoka Magica/Fate Zero/) came up with the plot for Ice Queendom, in his initial idea Team JNPR didn't even appear. He would later decide on adding them to the plot and the recap episodes and he brought along the screenwriter to make sure he kept the characters consistent .Only things CRWBY directly intervened was Shion's original weapon design as it was too similar to a character that would appear in the future.

Rating for me :7/10

I heard a lot when the anime came out but nothing after. Good to know what to expect. I'm not super big on RWBY so whether you want to more content or not doesn't really matter to me. Might watch it though

Personally i loved the show for one simple element. The characters. In RWBY proper I’ve grown to pretty much hate everyone in that show, but this series reminded me why i fell in love with them in the first place.

This is a review that i sent to a friend of mine as i have pretty much nothing new to say on it and this was probability the best i had ever gone to talking about my thoughts on the series. So enjoy:

“First are my issues with the show. The pacing wasn't very good. It really did drag allot and it felt like it was supposed to be either a movie or an OVA that was forced to become a TV show. Another issue being that it feels like this was more Blake's story than it was Weiss'. Despite the show being called Ice Queendom, Blake is given more focus. Now that doesn't bother me since I like Blake, but it does kinda feel like false advertising. I'm serious, the show begins with Weiss, but ends on Blake. Not only that but Weiss loses her memories of the dream world and doesn't know she became Esdeath's daughter. So it doesn't really feel like Weiss learned anything. Like the rest of the team are now allot more understanding of why Weiss became the way she is, but I thought the series was supposed to be a learning experience for Weiss. And another thing, the cliffhangers needed to chill the f*** out. I means it, every episode ended with either a cliffhanger or lead in to the next episode. Its almost as bad as the main show honestly, especially when some episodes end on really gripping cliffhangers like episode 8 ending with Ruby in her own nightmare after getting infected. But in the very next episode its resolved in just two minutes. That and the decision to make Blake the final boss was just odd. Yeah the animation was great but it was still weird to have Blake be the big boss at the end when we've been focusing our efforts on Weiss this entire time. The animation suffered allot too. Idk what the crunch time was for this show, but there's allot of ugly animation in this show. Though Shaft is well known for fixing up their animation in their Blu Ray releases so that might get fixed there. I will admit, it does feel like there was some lost potential. This show was meant to focus on Weiss and give us more insight one her psyche, but it's not really focused on allot. The climax itself is kind of in a Thanos from Endgame situation where the Grimm they defeat at the very end for the big climax, isn't the Grimm they've been trying to defeat for the whole show and is instead the one that possessed Blake.

HOWEVER, with all that said. It might shock you to know, that despite all of this, the show is still really good. And thats all thanks to one simple element. The characterization. The characterization is just perfect. The way team RWBY banters, bounce off each other, poke fun at each other, and even get into conflict with each other. Just the interactions all around are perfect. Yeah it does kinda rely on you already being a fan to even care about the character's struggles, but it was still good to see regardless. We even get interactions we never get in the show, like Yang interacting Penny, and Ruby and Yang interacting with Sun. Hell, even the Silver Eyes, despite what some people might tell you, is actually put to good use in this series. Unlike in RWBY proper, the Silver Eyes don't really feel like a Deus Ex Machina. Let's compare how their first used shall we? In Volume 3, the silver eyes happens right the fuck out of nowhere where Ruby goes super saiyan after Pyrrha dies……. A character she barely knew or ever talked to. Seriously, the two talked like twice in the whole show and suddenly she awakens this big power up with the only real set up for it being Ozpin's off handed comment about it in the very first episode of Volume 1. In Ice Queendom however, Ruby uses it on impulse when the Grimm has her trapped during the fight, and its done to save herself. And its revealed in the last episode that Ruby didn't even know what the hell happened after being asked by Ozpin if anything happened. Not only that, but its set up allot better too, with episode 9 having Ozpin's implication on Ruby's Silver Eyes. Pretty nice foreshadowing I'd say. We also get a pretty intense version of the conversation between Blake and Ozpin, where it honestly put me on the edge of my seat and made me question if Ozpin was really trustworthy. It did a way better job than the main show ever did that’s for sure. And when the animation got good, man was it amazing. From the choreography, to the cinematography, to the angels, the shots, the action, when the animation goes hard it goes SUPER hard.

So overall, while Ice Queendom's story wasn't the best, its saved by the amazing characterization, great animation, in certain places, great art, great music, and great voice acting from the Japanese voice actors. Also the "In loving Memory" part at the very end. Jesus fuck does it pull at the heart strings. It honestly kinda makes me sad to see this incarnation of Team RWBY go cuz i had really gotten invested wanted to know more about them. I really hope this show does well enough to get a second season because i definitely would like one.”

I have no idea if IQ is made for newcomers or RWBY fans.
