As a tip: Grow sugarcane and bamboo on mud instead of dirt. Two major advantages. 1) Mud is not a full block in height, so you can put hoppers underneath them. This results in a 0% loss compared to the grass design you made. 2) Because you don't need the hoppers in front of the grass blocks, you can make the farm 1 block less in size.

Possible video idea: Small floating islands, with small fantasy builds or gardens on them?

You don’t need water to grow bamboo. And you only need one row of water for the sugar. The water leading to the hopper for collection is enough to grow the sugar. Otherwise the design is nice and compact.
