It really works! I made a bit more paste and left it. After 5 min, those stains ooze out. It was so much easier to remove it. It worked on kitchen area. But very little on bathroom. Thanks for sharing !

After spending 5 months trying everything under the sun to clean the grout lines on our bathroom floor I figured out what I was actually dealing with, it is dust and hairspray built up. I soaked rags in really hot water and then let it set on top of the grout lines for about 20 minutes. I used a very stiff bristle Libman scrub brush and a metal finger nail file to gently scratch away stubborn spots. The area around where my wife stands to do her hair was the worst of it.

I asked my 30 year old son to clean his bathroom, he did, with Harpic loo cleaner on a white cast iron bath. To cut a very long story short, on advice we used the above concoction and after many hours of scrubbing it worked, not a 100% but enough to fool anyone other than the Mother in Law.

Can I suggest that you use an old battery operated toothbrush, which is what I always use when cleaning grout. A lot less elbow work.

I use vinegar baking soda and soap in hot water works well on my tiles

I use TSP powder (trisodium phosphate) from the hardware store. Mix with water according to instructions and wear rubber gloves. It still requires scrubbing but cleans my tiles and grout back to white.

I just figured out a easier quicker way to apply the mixture. Use a grout float or plastic 5 way paint tool (has a notch for you to put your hand through) then apply solution to multiple grout lines at once. Make the solution a little runny and it should collect in the grout lines. So much easier then spooning on or using a toothbrush! Have fun lol!

use a steamer then every few years then use a color grout sealer that will recolor your grout, so much easier

I absolutely hate tile due to grimy grout lines. Then I found out about grout sealer! 😊

I find wetting the grout with water and applying a commercial chalk remover is far easier.
All you have to do is wait a few minutes before removing the mixture. No scrubbing!

Will the grout lines get thinner and eventually break?
Using a toothbrush is highly effective in cleaning the grout, i tried it before.
But is this because we are removing the top dirty layer of the grout?

I have a handicapp accessible bathroom which is large. The entire shower: floor, walls and ceiling in the shower is tiled, then there's the entire floor in the whole bathroom and half the wall in the entire bathroom is tiled. Is there a way to clean all that tile and grout cuz this tip would take forever and a day to clean, then I'd have to start over by the time I finished. I'm not saying this isn't a good tip but the size of my bathroom - it will take more than 1 minute to clean. Any ideas?

Bonjour! An easier way to do it is to use 1 part of Isopropiyl rubbing alcohol + 1 part of any dish liquid + 2 part of water. Proceed immediately the same way as you do here.
