Anwar: Monitor funding used by agencies aimed at eradicating poverty

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants a reevaluation of government funding for the poor to ensure that aid is managed according to procedures.

He cited an example of some agencies aimed at eradicating poverty, but allocating 80 per cent of their funds for management costs.

Anwar called for frequent monitoring, while describing the current procedure as "blatantly biased and unjust" due to the misuse of funds.

Anwar hoped that government funding issues would be seriously addressed at any seminars or in discussions.

He said this in a speech at the National Symposium to End Poverty here.

Some Government officers are lazy and eat too much whether it is legal or illegal. If management cost is 80%, only 20% fund is for the poor. Then it has defeated the purpose to help the poor

3. The scope and ability to achieve the targets
4. The authorities constantly monitor it and to check on progress on the money spent ...
All allocations are good for expenses for the good of the well off and non deserving.

Who are to check ...? When the checkers too are eager for a share of the pie ..
