My father was a mechanic but didn’t do extremely well due to how mechanics were treated. I never took it personal that we didn’t own our house and what not or that we didn’t have all the fancy stuff my friends did but I always told myself “the first big purchase I make will be for my father” because he’d work 12 hours a day just to put food on the table. I voluntarily paid him rent to help out but years later I started my own construction company from nothing and now he has a Lotus Elise and a 6000sqf house in Beverly Hills. I worked my ass off just to make sure my father got what he wanted. I’m still with him to this day and thank god for every day I have with him.

The humbling a young man gets in his 20s is so vital.

A Working man is the only kind of man that keeps day to day life possible for the men who don’t work.

That's what a father should be. Hes not a pushover. Not overly physical but brave...has integrity but also compassionate

It can be tough being a father.
His acting when C walked out is fucking gold.

I would never have talked like this to my father. He worked for NYC Transit and he gave me so much that I could never repay him. Love and miss you poppa.

My Dad was a bus driver his entire life and he was the greatest man I've ever met. A man that was consistent, disciplined, loved reading history, was a handsome gentleman women would get on the bus just to talk with him. I never knew how great he was until it was too late. My father passed away when I was a few days away from completing (who everyone said was the hardest rehab in Australia) Who's Rozelle ... For any father the greatest gift my father ever gave me was his ability to communicate clearly and show and express Father to son how much he loved me. How did he do that ? He never drank alcohol nor took any drugs he was always present. I never had to wait until he woke up after a late drunk night he was always present and worked hard up at 4am 6 days a week. DeNiros character is my favourite. Once you understand when you begin to push and pull at life outside your world it pushes back in ways you don't expect. ❤

Dad’s are some of the hardest mfkers out there…don’t undermine what a father will do for his family.

It's weird seeing DeNiro as a civilian in a gangster movie

Even though Deniro PLAYS the role of the gangster in a lot of his films, he nailed it big time with the hard working blue collar role in this one. Great film.

He has peace. Nobody's gonna come for him. That's unbeatable

As a 22 year old man I can confirm that the things I’ve said and done to my parents similar to this when I was 16-18 still haunt me. Funny how you hear folks say teenagers think they know everything and you say it’s bs and think you know everything till reality and life gets thrown at you and you realize I am indeed a fool

I wish everyone could have parents with that kind of pride and integrity, the world would be a much nicer place.

As a father, as much as it breaks your heart to hear some of the stuff your teenagers will say to you, you gotta learn not to take it personal. They’re kids, it’s apart of growing up. A few years later, when they become adults, they’ll want to be close with you again.

My father came here from Puertp rico at the age of 18 with 40 dollars in his pocket, worked 3 jobs at a time to provide for me and my sisters, got both hips and knees replaced from the amount pf work he had done, i can never say i dont appreciate his work ethic because without him i wouldnt be able to get my head on right and but my first home at the age of 25, God bless of the working men that still hustle for their kids to give them a better life❤️

His dad might not have any money, but at least he didn't have to sweep the cheese off Sil's feet
