Junior Sophister laboratory session in which we investigate the response of a steel beam to loading in both the elastic and plastic ranges.

Would placing a stiffener at the point of load application produce a more mathematically accurate result since local failure possibly would’ve been avoided. I did not expect the local failure since the flanges do appear compact.
