That's great! A lot of nice parts are made on those lathes. I got started on a craftsman 6 by 18" mini lathe that had plain oilite headstock bearings.

Looks like that middle spot on the direction switch could be a safety feature. You can not switch the motor from forward to reverse without turning off the machine or it will blow the fuse. This stops you from grenadine the drivetrain.

It will short out the control board. Make and install a rubber grommet for that leqd screw hole.

Can you fit a 31 “ pool cue shaft in it to replace tips

I have the same machine. I need it for smaller things where I turn it relatively slow so I was wondering if you recognized a little knocking sound in the machine? Should I be worried or what could I do to fix this? Machine runs normal but that sound is little annoying or makes me worry

That middle position on the switch must be a self-destruction feature. I bet you thought it's fried...glad it wasn't. I got a good laugh though. Subscribed.

Would this unit be sufficient to do machine work on chainsaw cylinder? for porting purposes?

Can you lathe hardened steel like a clutch basket gear with one ? Or is it just for soft metals like brass copper, aluminum and regular carbon steel?
