The Worst Snatch Game of All Time

This past episode of RuPaul's Drag Race season 14 was...shocking to say the least. Never before have we seen the show's most beloved and consistent challenge, the Snatch Game, edited to be the mess this season's was.

It got me thinking, was this really the worst Snatch Game of all time? Bad enough to put everyone in the bottom and basically scold the entire cast for flopping so hard? I went through every RuPaul hosted Snatch Game (23 of them to be exact) to figure out which ones made Ru cackle the most, and which ones had the most awkward silences.

I would just like point out that Pearl was TOTALLY SNUBBED during her snatch game because her Big Ang was HILARIOUS and now I feel justified. Also, I didn't think Bosco or Lady Camden were bad. I've been saying the 'adjacent' line this past week. lol

I get that season 5 is iconic but I’m not at all surprised at it having the worst snatch game by your laugh count. Detox pissing on the floor and Alyssa having to formally apologize makes the snatch game absolutely abysmal by itself

It’s unfortunate that editing so strongly influences how we view snatch game. Multiple queens on season 5 and 8 have come out and said that Coco and Derrick were hilarious, and we just didn’t see that at all in the final product

Alexis really had me cracking up with her Walter Mercado I really wish it wasn't the start of the if you're not the top you're in the bottom nonsense for the season 😭

I hope I don't sound ridiculous but... Camdem's Shakespeare wasn't that bad, if they wanted to, she could've been edited funny. I mean, the delivery wasn't there, but the jokes were funny and her being the parody of the parody has proved in the past to be safe worthy. 🤷‍♂

I thought Daya’s Ozzy, Camden’s Shakespeare, and Boscoe’s Gwenyth had AT LEAST one joke I really laughed at.
It wasn’t good overall, but I can’t help but wonder what’d it feel like without production forcing the “terrible” storyline

I genuinely think that they sabotaged the queens this week. I found myself laughing when there was that stupid "this sucks" sound effect that they used. RuPaul knows how to turn on the fake laugh and she deliberately chose not to. They wanted some lip sync smackdown from the beginning and saw the opportunity even though there was a clear bottom two in my opinion.

I think what we learned from this video is that RuPaul’s laughing does not a good Snatch Game make 😂

Did you consider doing a "Laughs per minute" calculation to account for seasons with less time? Great video, but I'm wondering if the rankings would have been different. For ex: on season 6 they only got 20 laughs but it was 6 mins long (on youtube) vs season 14 which was 14 minutes long and got 25 laughs. If you divide the laughs for season 6 - 20/6 you get 3.3 laughs per minute. If you divide the laughs for season 14 - 25/14 you get 1.8 laughs per minute. This maybe shows why this felt like such a flop. we had a lot less laughs per minute we spent watching it! Thanks for compiling all the info and watching these all again for us!

I’m convinced Willow manifested this edit when she said they were all performing so strong that one week they were all going to suck. I’m sure producers were losing their shit over the possibility of that many bottom placements. It’s a stage with no audience so no background laughs, Ru is refusing to laugh I’m sure they put the pressure on them and made the atmosphere so dead none of them could make any jokes land past a certain point

I think Bianca Del Rio's Judge Judy is the most overrated snatch game performance of all time. People love to give Silky shit saying she was just playing herself when she did TS Madison, but Bianca was playing herself when she did Judge Judy so what's the difference between the two of them

Imo this ranking system is flawed, since some snatch games have more queens, therefore sometimes having an advantage or disadvantage, and also sometimes rupaul gives pity laughs like when they're presenting themselves

The second hand emabarrassment I got from watching this snatch game was so strong that I almost couldn't finish it. Thank god for the speedy montage at the end.
