Cisco and German Cybersecurity Agency warn that attackers are utilizing recently addressed CVE-2021-40438 flaw in many Apache HTTP web servers with enabled mod_proxy module.
The vulnerability impacts version 2.4.48 and earlier. However, with the release of a new version 2.4.49, it ended in the mid of September. Numerous PoC exploits for CVE-2021-40438 have been issued since the public disclosure of the vulnerability.
To exploit the vulnerability, researchers from Cisco and Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security are indicating some ongoing attacks attempting.
A security advisory was published by Cisco to notify its clients that it is looking into the effect of the problem on its products. The problem mainly affects Expressway series, Prime Collaboration Provisioning, TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS), and Security Manager products. In addition, the IT giant declares that it is analyzing its products to ensure safety.
