I love how you show that so many martial arts are connected to each other. I bet you could make a family tree of how they're connected

despite the differences, there is a clear connection between them and it is amazing that in martial arts, no matter how different they are, there are always similarities 🥋

I love that you are doing these.

I teach Taiji, Bagua and Xing Yi. I am always showing similarities to my other students based on their past backgrounds. We have a saying, "there are only so many ways to move the human body effectively. " The generations of study and you notice how many universal truths and movements they arrived at.

In 1995 I met a Kung Fu master. When I started training with him I said that I wanted to learn Tai Chi Chuan. He said I wasn't ready for Tai Chi. Years later I started training his Tai Chi Chuan (Wudang style), and he was right. It was the most pure Kung Fu I ever saw. The fajing was so powerful.

I do both Tai Chi and Karate. Love the contrast and comparison. I know Mark personally and you picked a great candidate for comparison. FYI, I designed those fencing masks in the background.

Tai Chi is smooth like water
Karate is rough when water
When both are combined....
There now "Balance"...

Man, Tai Chi looks so beautiful. This will sound so naive but I have a feeling one day it will get the respect that I believe it deserves once people understand the purpose of the art and its uses.

C’est beau. Le même Kata, deux façons différentes de le faire. Bravo à tous les deux

Martial arts have an incredibly wide base.

Literally something for everyone.
Kata for the artistic.
Tai Chi for the old and relaxation.
Judo for the throws.
Boxing for the punches.
Sambo and BJJ for groundwork.
List is literally

It's great to see Tai Chi getting some recognition. Really enjoyed the few classes I attended as a karate instructor.

Very interesting pair demonstration. However, people might get the wrong idea that Tai Chi is only for relaxation while Karate is the opposite. In fact, they serve the same purpose which is training the body for basic and combination movements. The Kata and forms need to be translated later for combat application. In Karate is called Bunkai. The same case with Tai Chi. This is the different with modern matrial arts where training is more directed to the application. In Taekwondo we can see a very good example between the traditional Hyongs and the Kukiwoon Poomse. Kukiwoon even develop special Kata only for demo.

Different expressions of the same principles and applications. Both are great in their own ways

See this just proves that every movement is in every martial art. Why do I say this we only can move so many ways 2 arms 2 legs ❤ thank you Jesse

Really interesting to see the sort of "parallel" movements in each style. Thank you!

Tai chi is older than karate. And considering karate originated in China! Yeah. Cool comparison of Jessie!

Great video Jesse, I've practiced both Karate and Tai Chi ☯️

This comparison makes karate look like the most external art in the world😄 Even though traditional Okinawan styles at least are still very introspective and internal compared to wester sports☯️

This video shows so much more than originally meets the eye! Showing the contrast of soft technique, and Hard technique is truly the most potent secret of all Kata. Allow the moves to transform the way you move. Slow to perfect techniques fast to perfect outcome. ❤❤❤this is
