"The world meets nobody half way" is a running theme, through the 80s (unsung) Stallone classic, Over The Top (1987).

This is the full scene, where Hawk wagers a bet with some little ruffians that his son can beat their biggest guy in an arm wrestle; two times out of three. Included in this scene, is Hawk presenting some valuable advice to his son Mike, when he throws a strop and preemptively quits. Only to be motivated into finishing his little contest off.

One of the best father and son movies made in the 80's.

Fun fact- the bully kid is played by Jimmy Keegan, now a professional drummer best known for his work with Santana and the progressive rock bands Spock’s Beard and Pattern Seeking Animals. He said in an interview a few years ago part of why he got the role in this movie because playing drums his whole life made his forearms look more defined than the average kid his age.

That kid on the right is like 34 years-old

Remember The Good Ol' Days when, if your estranged dad wanted to teach you arm wrestling, he'd walk you up to total strangers in random locations and start throwing bets around? What happened to us as a society?

I wished my father had instilled confidence in me rather than squashing it every time I got up, .

I watched this movie when I was a 10 or 11. Now I'm 40, and a father, and only now I comprehended the depth of it.

I love how he randomly walks up to kids in a restaurant and challenges them to arm wrestling matches.

Hawk was so smart he knew he had to lay out 2 outta 3 in case his son lost the first time in order to give him the father n son talk. Props to a good ass father for pushing his son over the top

Great speech, Stallone adding sweet moments like this realky made you rute for him in his flicks. He was ripped but had a genuine soft side.

Now I'm wondering if that kid really killed himself because Mike beat him.

Also does the Restaurant have a gambling licence? Lol

And gosh those kids insults are so funny because they're not haha
