The more I expose myself the more I don’t care what others think. I am powerful!

This is awesome !
This is what helped me overcome social anxiety
When this thinking got established in my mind
“At end of the day it doesn’t really matter what others think of you “
You are not that important, get over yourself

You didn’t hurt anybody here, this is the way to do it instead of living in pain

"As you can see, the world didn't collapse..." That was the funniest thing I've ever heard today.🤣🤣🤣 I gotta have to try this very soon.

i have severe social anxiety and this video inspired me to go take a random public bus ride just to walk back home at the next stop. not exactly at the level this guy is on but it felt like an accomplishment to me.

What you did is correct. Our brain doesn't know the difference between real fear like seeing a bear etc. and fear which is not real like fear of being judged, fear of being rejected, public speaking etc. There is no life and death situation when we do public speaking but still we become nervous. Our brain (the amygdala) turns the fight and flight response as soon as we get on the stage even though we know no one among the audience will physically attact us. To reprogram amygdala we should do things that we fear more often in public and after you do tell your brain there was no danger in doing so. If you do this for 5 or 6 months the amagydala will delete the fear and you will become desensitized to that fear. Then it will be so easy for you and It will seem like nothing.

Omg I needed this video so bad! I feel like every time I open my mouth to communicate I make a fool of myself. I’m a very timid, shy, quiet person and it makes people distance themselves from me and when I do try to talk it seems so wrong I constantly live in fear of being judged so I avoid people

This is what i did in school. Was anxious and afraid until a decided to make some kind of fool of myself, by wearing stupid clothing and whatever. And doing unexpected things in the quadrangle to shock people and gain their attention.

Doing social mishap exposure therapy seems to me to be the cure. Period. It directly deals with the actual fear, which is the fear being judged negatively by people. Normal social exposure therapy does not do this, which is why it has mixed results.

I’m glad he had the guts to make this video and share with us. I think some variation of these tactics could be really helpful.but,

I still don’t agree with creating more unnecessary work for employees or wasting coffee or food, it would would be better to wait for an opportunity when they really do mess up your order to send it back

Great video. Only started exposure therapy this week. I have only done minor things like ask people the time or directions; basically baby steps. Your video inspires me to amp up the difficulty at some point. Thanks :)

I've severe stutter in social situations, and resulting social anxiety. I started exposure therapy few years back and did all the things shown in this video, and many many more. Was it difficult? Yes! But after doing these, i felt better because the world didn't end, and i got out of my comfort zone in a big way.
