I live in San Jose and was ready to be disappointed by the video, but you did a fantastic job describing San Jose factually as opposed to the biases see and hear about one neighborhood vs another. You've covered all bases incredibly well. Job well done!

I was born in San Jose back in 1957. It was a small city growing up. And the original capital of the state. The last time I visited my home town was in 1978. Maybe someday I'll be back.

I love your take and passion for San Jose, and I agree with most of the pros and cons. I was born and raised in SJ, and yes, it's super expensive to live here, but San Jose is quite unique and worth the cost of living if you can make it work. I know you mentioned the different foods SJ offers, but I would say that a huge pro in San Jose is the variety of Mexican food it has to offer (many great restaurants and food trucks). If you need any recommendations, feel free to ask! Great video!

Long time resident (45 years), I found the BEST custard filled long john at Peters Bakery (Alum Rock and White) ever!
They cut the long john in half, take it the back, and lather on the custard. WOW.
You're welcome!

Born and raised 60 years of my life in San Jose thus far… I’ve lived the north east foothill area my whole life, McKee, Toyon, Penitencia Creek neighborhood. Antipastos Deli is literally a weekly dinner spot. We also love La Villa in Willow Glen. I worked in semiconductor industry, my husband works for CalTrans DOT. We’re going to miss San Jose, we’re retiring in Texas.

I visited last week with my family, - cousin in law graduated from Stanford. I fell in love. The energy from everybody I met was great, it was a great distance away from a lot of other places you’d want to visit in California. I have to figure out how to make more money so I can move there 😂but I love it.

No mention of Santana Row or even one the best Malls in the US—Valley Fair
What about Alum Rock Park?
Quick Silver?
Rose Garden?
Winchester Mystery House?

The food is amazing. The weather is outstanding, if not a bit "boring." Proximity to beaches, the Central Coast, the mountains, etc. is perfect. Crime, vagrancy (homeless) and dirty streets unfortunately outweigh those pros. I'm not sure there are any actually "safe" neighborhoods anymore. Ours used to be, but the sidewalks are blocked with tents and the streets are clogged with derelict RVs. Parking anywhere other than your garage is asking for your window to be broken and your catalytic converter to be taken. The trails you mentioned now have homeless blocking them. I remember teaching my kids to ride bikes on those trails when they were clean. It's really a shame.

Lived in San Jose until I was 8, near Capital Expressway and Pearl Ave. My parents paid $29, 000 for that house brand new. Last time I checked it was valued at over $1.6 million. Many find memories of the old neighborhood but there's no way I could ever afford to go back.

I am coming to San Jose for university next year and I am from the UK. Is there anything you recommend me to do or think about before I come? Thanks

Born and raised in San Jose and live in the heart of JAPAN town where I lived for roughly 10 years on the 3rd floor of the white building as shown at 3:57, as for the Food there in JAPAN town it's no where close to what it used to be, Long gone is Ginza which was a few doors down from where I lived and the other way just before 4th street was NOBOs there the cook many times would cook me special meals, sad to say these 2 restaurants are long gone. On 6th street I think Okayama Gardens is still there but the food is not as good as it used to be. Santos Market on 6th and Taylor street will have one of the BEST HAWAIIAN POKI BOWLS around, I think the POKI there is on par or better than what I have had in HAWAII.

On another note: I was there and saw the fall of the farms and orchards only to see the rise of SILICON Valley, out door activities the best for me was riding my bicycle over the GAP, HWY 9 from Saratoga to Santa Cruz or over Mt Hamilton then drop into Sunol, we also used to head north to the Palo Alto area then over the hill to the coast and catch the tail wind all the way down to Santa Cruz, then over 9 for the ride back into the Pit! Sorry to say, we've been calling San Jose the PIT for well over 40 years. Just my 2 cents.

I saw a sign at 2:17 that says City of Westminster. Westminster is definitely in SoCal.
