gracious unto you: the Lord lift up the light of his countenance upon you and give you
peace. Amen.
(Numbers 6, v. 24)

Be Thou My Vision
Gathered from across the Collegium catalogue, Be thou my vision includes all of the church anthems and other sacred pieces for which Rutter is justly famous, representing for the first time a handy compendium of the best-loved Rutter works in their definitive performances by the Cambridge Singers, directed by the composer.

John Rutter, English composer and conductor, is associated with choral music throughout the world. His recordings with the Cambridge Singers (the professional chamber choir he set up in 1983) have reached a wide global audience, many of them featuring his own music in definitive versions. Among John’s best-known choral works are Gloria, Requiem, Magnificat, Mass of the Children, and Visions, together with many church anthems, choral songs and Christmas carols.

I'm having this played at my beloved mother's funeral in a couple of weeks. Please pray for me because I hurt so bad.😢.

My old Choir Master, John Binns, taught us that, when performed correctly, the audience will sit in silence after this piece. If they applaud, he said, you haven't done it right. He was SO proud, as were we all, when the Campion College Choir finished our concert with this, and Not. One. Clap. To this day, this piece gives me goosebumps. One of my fondest memories of my high school choir days.

I played and sang this to Doreen, my old lady friend. I had a feeling it would be the last time I would see her. She passed away 5 days later. So thankful for this lovely music and for the precious last moments we had together.

Isn’t that great? HE has me in HIS hands, especially when cancer is such a bummer! “For in my weakness HE is powerful!”

For some reason I always come back to this. I sang it years ago when I was only a child. I’m going off to college now as a vocal performance major. Coming back to this peace I always remember why I’m doing what I’m doing . 💜

The song may the Lord bless you and keep you is one of my favourite Christian hymns of all time, this haunting beautiful OUTSTANDING piece of music is composed by the OUTSTANDING great composer Mr John Rutter, the Cambridge singers voices are So out of this world in this version just love it, you feel that all your fears which you may have and the troubled life you may have had in the past and the worries you may still have just flows away from you giving you the inner peace you need, bravo Cambridge Singers, you take my breath away and give Mr John Rutter such credit for his beautiful work, two words to describe this PURE HEAVEN.

Amazing at this time of world pandemic, that this exquisite John Rudder doesn't have millions of "likes".

Watch and hear this sung also by the choir at Westminster Abbey. Both versions are divine

Omg, my school sings this song for every graduation since it's early years of it's making. It's a very deeply respected tradition. I wish the boys in my choir sounded like that when I was in choir🤧. The alto part is the best part in my opinion

I recently sat with my father as he passed away after long illness. I played this to him and he passed so peacefully I didn’t realise he’d gone. Such beautiful music.

This is my prayer for anyone struggling in the post covid cost of living crisis. Can someone tell the bible verse this is based on.

I almost started crying when we sang this in my high school choir today. This is the final song we will sing with the seniors in a few months, and it is the final song I’ll sing as a senior next year. Choir has completely changed my life for the better and to think that it has to end makes me really sad, but to end with this piece will be so special. I’m not even religious but the simple genius of this music is so emotional. I’ll never forget you CHS Singers❤

In high school, we used to close every choral concert with this song. All of the choirs would combine and wrap completely around the auditorium, embracing the audience with live surround sound. Participating in it was amazing. Then after I graduated, my younger brother started high school and was in the choir as well, so I finally got to experience it as a listener. It was transcendent. To this day, this song evokes so many emotions and never fails to bring a tear to my eye.
